Console Gamers are so Judgmental

Sometimes I wonder if people think before they speak. It’s okay to be a console only gamer but to be judgmental towards PC gamers with no prior knowledge is pretty insulting to me. It’s always the ones that never owned a gaming PC a day in their lives — never saw one either that always have something to say. “PC gaming is dying”, I rather use a controller than a mouse and keyboard”, blah, blah, blah! One, PC gaming isn’t dying, and two, you can use a controller on any and every game; you can even use a controller to browse your computer. I didn’t want to end this year blogging about this subject again but enough is enough. Yea, I know I’m wasting my time but ‘my time’ are the operative words. I would like to see beautiful graphics and processing speeds on a console of 2012 on a 2005-2006 consoles — without upgrading that is. People think you have to upgrade your computer specs every time something new comes out. That’s not true, if you do it right the first time, you shouldn’t have to upgrade your computer for the next 3-4 years. The money people wasted on a Blu-ray player that just so happens to play video games I can buy the parts to make a cheaper gaming rig. I’d prefer to sit down and relax to play video games than flailing my arms, risking punching someone else or myself in the throat with my hand. Let’s not get on the accidents people have caused from playing the Wii. Low and played out blows to consoles I know but they are very valid. After awhile there’s only so much kicking someone in the shins or watching over-priced DVD‘s you can do before you’re no better than playing them on a PC.

I believe “PC gaming is dying” is a cop-out; scapegoat for those who are naïve on the subject. The foolishness needs to stop. Knowledge is power and once you get in the know, then you can have an opinion on PC gaming. A lot of games which at first were PC exclusives were influenced for consoles, yes that’s where most gamers are at the moment, that because people think you have to use a mouse and keyboard (which is in fact the worst way to play a video game besides Minecraft) for all the games, or the fact that what’s on the console is more enticing than what’s on the PC.

If it wasn’t for PC’s, you wouldn’t have console games. Which brings me to my next part of my rant. These console ported pieces of crap these developers is doing; let me just say, I’m not happy about that. Make the damn PC game first and THEN the console game, why do things ass-backwards?

Anyway, if you’re going to be a PC gamer bashing console fan-boy/fan-girl, at least be educated and bring the facts to the table and not some biased opinion because you’re too lazy to think outside of the box for once in your life. Give PC gaming a try before bash PC gaming, otherwise, you’ll look stupid.

Also, before I close…Alieware and the like does not count as far as “expensive gaming” goes. Only a dummy would buy them pieces of over-priced crap — especially now that Dell took over.

Dead Island: Survival Guide

Most of the strategies listed if not all should already common knowledge but if they’re then you came to the right blog. I just finished beating Dead Island and figured I could be of some help with some that are frustrated. I could have completed the game long before now but that recent update that was released ruined my save file, thus causing me to start over from scratch. Which I’m glad I did because I ran across a few things I missed the first time.

  • Run! I know experience points is everything but if you’re playing alone and you’re outnumbered, the best thing you should do is to run, run, run. Especially if you’re in Moresby traveling across the map to do a mission. There are only a few chances to actually drive a vehicle on this part of the map.
  • Don’t avoid Rams. [Well sometimes it's necessary]. Especially if they’re out in the open. Usually there’s a chest close by to check out. Which is why it’s essential to be fully leveled up in the lock picking tier.
  • Venture away from missions. Yep, you will run into some really beneficial side missions, metal chests, skulls [blue, orange, green, purple], mods, large amounts of money, and rare items if you run around the map.
  • Know when to pick your battles. There’s a reason why there are tips at the loading screens. The one about there being extremely difficult areas on the map if you were to venture them alone is one you should not take with a grain of salt. If you venture to these parts, be heavily armed, supported, healed, aware. You lose a large chunk of money every time you die. So to keep that change in your pocket, pick your fights.
  • Do not give Jin all your unnecessary items. I say this for two reasons. One, 9/10 you probably won’t need them; two, if your file size get over a certain amount; say 10260. If your saved game file exceeds over that number, your game will crash. Resulting in a very pissed and upset gamer. You must keep your file save below 10260. So that means for all those unnecessary gears, lemon juice, etc, just drop them. If you manage to go over the required file size you will have to resort to this tutorial. I must warn you though, it’s for advanced computer users only. Anyone less equipped will probably be confused.
  • Do not enter the jail! If you want to continue playing online that is. This may be a little too late for most but um, I recently tried playing online after I beat the game [it could have been a glitch or it could have been patched by now] and…I couldn’t. Probably because once you enter the jail, you’re at the point of no return. Which brings me to my next point…
  • Do all side quests! They hold the key to getting some really good weapons. Also because they’re fun. Who wants to stick strictly to the main story? You’ll beat the game too quickly then and probably won’t level up as fast; with weak weapons. Don’t rush through the game, the ending is disappointing anyway [well in my opinion]. ;)

More to come!

“I’m a Female Gamer & Everyone is Out to Get Me!”

Get your undies out your butt and simmer down. The days where men don’t take female gamers seriously are slowly coming to an end. So you don’t have to stand up in your swivel chair and protest to the gaming world that you’re a female with working and very coördinated opposable thumbs. No one cares. I don’t care, the next gamer don’t care, the universe don’t care. Feel comfortable in your skin for once. The gaming world isn’t out to get you and people can care less what gender you are; just don’t suck, cheat, use trainers unnecessarily [same as cheating-doh!], troll, or rage quit.

Just take this into consideration, there are some really good female gamers out there and sadly most of them associate themselves with the overrated and over-hyped up Halo franchise. Something I would have to be paid to play because then, I’ll be able to bear it knowing it’ll all be over soon.

We’re no longer “rare”, we’re no longer “special” and people no longer care. Don’t be offended by this blog, I’m just telling it like it is. This a female gamers heart to heart moment so bear with me.

Let me just point one thing out. Although I haven’t seen this yet but I’m sure it’s happening as I type. Please don’t be a console fan girl. It won’t do you any favors. All three consoles have major flaws, one is better is than the other in some places and worse in others. If you’re going to go into a long drawn out debate about why you feel why the console of your choice is the dominant console, please I beg of you, make sense and know what you’re saying. Be factual, not opinionated. That’s hard to do isn’t it? I mean because you can’t necessarily say that one console is superior to the others if you’re using facts. Honestly, you can just simply say one has less flaws than the others and that’s not really a stretch either. Besides, PC’s will always win that argument but you would have to see it from a PC gamer‘s perspective such as myself to understand why. The Wii, the PS3, the Xbox 360 can have all those motion sensors, but the graphic pull and the red rings and all the other nasty things that come with consoles? It’s not worth it. I can build a decent gaming rig with the amount of money people wasted on a console [the ps3].

I say know what you’re talking about because people don’t even know what chip-sets are inside of their consoles and yet, they’re saying one is better than the other. Get to know your consoles, become one with them if you will. Well that’s my two cents on that subject. Back to the matter at hand…

Shouldn’t feel threatened in any way by your male counterparts, a lot of them suck anyway. Just enjoy gaming and being a gamer. Gaming shouldn’t be divided by gender, there shouldn’t be a war among gamers because of gender. It’s ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, there are some sexist bastards out there. All I have to say about that is, they’re jealous, insecure, or suffer from the lack of attention they was deprived of as a child. Either way, they want you to get upset because that gets them off. Brush that bullshit off and kick some ass.

I love that saying “I can show you better than I can tell you”. So don’t get on the mic menstruating because that’s what they want. Get them where it hurts them the most, in their pride. If you suck though, I would just stick to menstruating on the mic.

Dead Island: A fix for Launching the Game, Splash Screen, Then Crash Issue

  1. Go to your steam directory: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dead island\DI\Data”
  2. Open the game.ini file.
  3. Change the line that says: Locale (“En”) to Locale (“en”).

OR!

  • Change the settings from en to ru if option one doesn’t work.

Easy as pie right? No one should get these instructions wrong. This may also work with other games besides Dead Island.

Dead Island: Micro-stuttering Solution

The micro-stuttering is caused by the keyboard input for many of us. For example, the game microstutters when you use your keyboard [especially for movement]. The game could be running at 60 fps but would look choppy and more like 30 fps. Again, only when using the keyboard and most noticeable when strafing.

Using other input devices, like a controller, eliminates the microstutter because the keyboard is not being used.

  1. Enter the Ease of access center [this can be accessed through Accessories after clicking Start], then click ‘Make the Keyboard Easier to use’.
  2. Click ‘Set Filter Keys‘.
  3. Click ‘Set up Filter Keys’.
  4. Click ‘Turn on Repeat Keys and Slow Keys’,and then on ‘Set up Repeat Keys and Slow Keys’. Select the option to ignore all repeated keystrokes, and reduce the time option at the top to 0.0 seconds.
  5. Go back.
  6. Ensure that ‘Turn on Filter Keys’ is ticked at the top and apply. Dead Island now runs smoothly, when you’re done, un-tick the box and apply.

Dead Island: How to Enable Crossfire

This is another edition to ‘Very Easy 101′ on how to enable Crossfire in Dead Island.

  2. Add the Dead Island .exe
  3. Navigate to the tweaks tab and choose “Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood (Chrome 4) from the ‘Force CrossfireX Profile’ drop-down box.
  4. Enjoy!

Left 4 Dead ‘The Sacrifice’ Trailer

This is by far the best Video game trailer ever. Left 4 Dead – er I mean Valve did a good job with this one. So much was said with no words. My eyes got huge when I saw those three tanks. I sat on the edge of my seat when Bill ran towards them with a molotov, I was feeling like Zoey when the camera was veered towards her. I said “no Bill”. Valve should make a movie.

I am totally looking forward to this Downloadable content. I am SO glad that they didn’t forget about Zoey, Francis, Bill, and Louis; the true survivors of Left 4 Dead. I know they said they weren’t done with the original cast but it’s great to know it just wasn’t empty words to keep people happy.

& to think I was just playing Left 4 Dead earlier. My roommate was shocked that I was still playing it. I told him, real fans; dedicated fans still love play the first one. Lets see the boycott-ers boycott this. Doubt it though. They’re so quiet you could probably hear a cat piss on cotton if it was just them in the room with this DLC.

Question:

Is Bill really cut from the series? I mean I heard rumors that the person who did his voice passed away or whatever but that shouldn’t stop production. Who is in his spot? It can’t be Left 4 Dead with only 3 survivors. Why Bill though? Why not – wait, I love them all. If it’s true…why Bill? Man…I’m going to be upset if Bill is gone.

Wait…it’s called ‘The Sacrifice‘. I just added 2 and 2 together…BILL NO!!!!

Okay yea, just did some research. I’ve been on a gaming hiatus and didn’t get to play The Passing:

Bill is killed sometime prior to the events of Left 4 Dead 2‘s The Passing when he sacrificed himself to raise the bridge for the other three Survivors. According to The Sacrifice’s comic, Bill likely died protecting the other Survivors from three simultaneous Tanks.

But still BILL NOOO!!! Why did he have to go out on a “I’ve lived my life, you guys is just now starting to” bit! *sobs* If you haven’t noticed by now Francis is my favorite.

The Sacrifice DLC for L4D1 is a separate download than The Sacrifice for L4D2.

In The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead 1 gamers receive the complete Sacrifice campaign with maps playable in Campaign, Versus, and Survival.

In The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead 2 owners receive “The Sacrifice” campaign playable with the Left 4 Dead Survivors. In addition, those with Left 4 Dead 2 receive L4D’s “No Mercy” campaign. Both campaigns are playable in Campaign, Versus, Survival, and Scavenge modes and both will feature the Left 4 Dead 2 Special Infected, items, and weapons.

“The Sacrifice” will be available for download on Xbox Live for 560 Microsoft Points and free to all PC gamers.
