Dear Winton Manor…

May I make a few suggestions? You need surveillance camera‘s. Why you ask? Here’s why:

  • When someone on my floor pulls the fire alarm consecutive nights in a row and then run down the hallway and exit up or down the steps, you’ll be able to catch who did it. So I won’t have to regret moving in here while I rock my son back to sleep from being startled by the women on the intercom.
  • When someone floods the laundry room and fail (or doesn’t care) to tell maintenance which forces people who wanted to wash their clothes go and track down maintenance to let them know.
  • To catch the trifling people who find pleasure in urinating in the hallways and stairways.
  • A lot of buildings have hidden cameras on their elevators, for good reason. People get mugged, harassed; killed on elevators. Other people like to vandalize the elevators or hold the elevator open long enough for it to stop working (the person who stays in 209 does this all the time or she rides the elevators all day).
  • To catch the even more trifling people who leave their garbage in the stairway instead of walking their nasty behinds down the hall and throwing it down the garbage chute.
  • To catch drug activity in the hallways and outside of the accused apartments.
  • So when someone leaves a cart full of garbage and just leaves it there, you will know who did it.
  • To catch when maintenance does something incriminating because they’re just as crooked as most of the people in this building. They half-ass do their jobs and some of them have this smug attitude that I don’t particularly care for.

Mind you, if they know the camera’s are there then putting them there defeats the purpose. People act like animals in this building and it needs to stop.

Update: I just got an invoice under my door. It states:

Let me just say, the black community hold strong onto the ‘no snitching’ rule; which I find to be idiotic. They want the police when someone robs their home but if it ain’t got nothing to do with them, they’re not opening their mouths. They may have seen something but if it’s not causing any pain or discomfort to them then they turn the other way. Ok, I’m going off on a tangent here — back to the matter at hand. It’s sickening that to find the people to come forward, they have to be given something. Things like this shouldn’t be in this building. It’s in downtown Cleveland, Ohio for Pete’s sake! You would think there will be a discrimination when it comes to that. No crack-heads or meth-heads that ride up and down on the elevator or hold/block the elevator so it stays on one floor.

When was the last time the stairways were actually scrubbed and disinfected? You’re worried about LEAD! Hmph! There are more other things that can make a child sick. You can’t make this place a peaceful and quiet experience until you get rid of the problems that’s keeping this place from being quiet and peaceful.

This summer was the worst leaving to and fro from this building. Me and my son were harassed and criticized every time I walked past the loiters that were out front or next to the building. You put up signs that reads “no loitering” but do they read and abide? No they do not. What’s the point? They feel they run the place, what makes you think they’re going to follow rules? They smoked, they made noise, they made 9th and Prospect look like 79th and Cedar. All I could do was shake my head and keep it moving.

The fire alarm is always, always going off. It goes off for 10-15 20-25 minutes every time before someone at the desk comes on and say “false alarm”. One day it’s going to be a catastrophe of a fire in this building, no one is going to take it seriously until they see smoke coming under their door or they have lack of oxygen in their lungs.

I finally saw what I think someone finally working on the freight elevator. That thing have been broken since before I moved in (which was in August). What took you guys so long to fix that? What cheap mechanic did you find this time?

Don’t feel bad, it’s not just here, the apartments out in Euclid, Ohio and probably plenty of other places are like this. I’m not living there though, I’m living here.

Why oh why does the woman who comes on the intercom tell people to not use the elevator when there are people in here who uses wheelchairs? There isn’t a ramp so if there was a fire what you expect them to do? Burn to death? Wait on the firemen to come to their aid and carry all them downstairs on their backs? If I were in a wheelchair and I was looking for affordable place to live, no ramp or other safety precautions available for me to make it downstairs when need be would have made me roll in the other direction.

I know there is a slew of people running around vandalizing the building like little children but there are more pressing matters here. The garbage chute should never be packed…never. It’s contradicting and wastes the person’s time when they come out and spray for roaches. Speaking of that, you seriously need to stop wasting your money. That stuff doesn’t work. COMBAT GEL does. Send out a letter to all the residents in the building to get some combat gel. I know some are hip already. Combat gel cleans them out pretty fast. Put that money you’re wasting on sending out someone to spray on getting a better chute system. It’s ridiculous and disgusting!

There are people in this building that want the same things I want. They want order and they want the vandalism to stop, they want the ignorance to end. I know this will probably never make it to any of you who run or live in this building and I don’t care. I won’t be here no longer than I need to be. Before I leave though, I will be taking photos and posting them here so people don’t think I’m making this crap up.

Sincerely, Asilee

The Winton Manor

The Winton Manor (Click to Enlarge)

Basically this statement says what a lot of tenants are feeling about The Winton Manor.

I reside at the Winton Manor formerly known as The Carter Manor and have resided here for more than 13 years.  Sure they have rehabbed the building cosmetically by doing spot repairs and adding a few face plates here and their building is not what it seems.  On many days you can go in various public areas and see human secretions in public areas that are also exposed to kids, you will see trash in the stairwells, sometimes in the elevators and in front of tenants units.

If you lived here you will experience children running up and down the halls sometimes hitting on tenants doors and running, tenants playing loud sometimes vulgar music, televisions sometimes are played loud as well as it seems so many tenants have surround sound speakers attached to the televisions.

People have guest who entertain their guest in a tenants unit when the tenant is not home.  Some people entertain their guest in the hallways.  Many rules are not enforced at this building and the building is not secure – mostly everything printed in The Plain Dealer was a lie, the plain dealer was called and it was requested that a follow-up be done and they refused flat-out.  I also noticed that many articles that printed on this building have been censored.

The building has bugs like Ive never seen before, it has been my experience that the management company alters the truth to get move ins and give you hell when trying to get things resolved.

It’s a lot of drama in the building and  although the name has changed as did the appearance of the building but it is just as it was when it was the Carter Manor..NOTHING HAS CHANGED! Most of the promises they claimed in the paper were not honored like a computer room, a store, doctors in the building etc.

We have security on site but they only check IDs and that’s it, you can do as yo please and the guards only write complaints and then it’s finished.  Management really doesn’t enforce rules or deal with complaints unless you owe them money or unless they want you out.

The building is a joke as are its rules.

We have so many false fire alarms that people often times do not even want to leave their apartments, they have no real evacuation plan or safety alternatives for people who are in wheel chairs – it’s really sad, it was said that we would have new elevators because the old ones would break down a lot – guess what???  we never got the elevators although they did put paneling on the elevator walls to give it a new look but the elevators are not new – money was not spent the way it was printed in the plain dealer or how it was promised to tenants.

People really need to talk about whats really happening in their buildings even if given anonymously.

People have a right to know what they are getting into.

They do not do thorough checks on people because what I have seen it’s like they let anybody in the building.

Sadly, its still like that to this day. This was posted in a forum YEARS ago..and the feelings are in fact mutual except I’m not exactly living here. The fire alarm is going off now but I doubt there’s a fire so I stay where I’m at until the security guard down at the desk gets on the intercom and say there is one. Other than that he’ll usually say “false alarm, all residents please go back to your rooms” but in reality, no one really leaves.

They have YET to make a way for those in wheelchairs or any other type of disability to make it downstairs if there is a fatal fire. The only source is in fact to use the elevators although the fire alarm says don’t use the elevators. They’re risking their lives every day when it goes off because what if there really is a fire and they have no choice but to use the elevators and something happen to them? They shouldn’t have turned this building into a senior/disabled apartment complex because it wasn’t suited for them.

I’m not disabled or anything but before they changed it this place to for Seniors and the disabled, it was for everyone. So there are still people here before they changed it. I just feel sorry for the people who live here and hope something changes.

As for the elevators mentioned in his statement, they were never changed. Earlier this year they took out the tiling and threw down carpet. Well someone urinated in the elevator and they have yet to clean that out. Why they went from tiling to carpet I’ll never know. But I guess since people don’t know how to take care of where they lay their heads and most of the people in this building are in fact nasty, they just left it there. Says a lot about their character though. I mean in the area where they have their parties and other meetings, someone stole the flat screen out of there. How they got away with it when there were “camera’s” I’ll never know but from the looks of things, people don’t care about anything but themselves. I hope things change!

So what that Joakim Noah Bashed Cleveland!

Cleveland is, I don’t know about Cleveland, man. I mean there is nothing going on around here, man. The streets are kind of bare. It’s bad, man, it’s bad”

I mean come on! Its not like he wasn’t telling the truth. Cleveland, is a ghost town. There isn’t shit to do here and the crime rate is through the roof. They just closed over 18-20 schools, more jobs are leaving, and the only thing people have anything looking forward to is Lebron James, which I hope leaves.

Then the former Florida Gator then decided to take his disrespect for Cleveland another step further. When a reporter inquired about the possible backlash from Cleveland fans and asked, ”but doesn’t that motivate you a little bit?”

Noah’s response was,”What, that Cleveland sucks?”

I would have to say that was pretty hilarious. If you can’t laugh at yourself…ah you know the saying. I don’t understand why Cleveland is so pissy about what Joakim Noah said when the Bulls has lost twice to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and I’m only saying that because they are doing far better than the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. Maybe they should just sit back and let the Fagaliers take care of Joakim Noah shit talking. Yes, that’s right, I never liked the Cavaliers and I won’t start now. Some say that Joakim Noah is desperate to win so his snide remarks would be “justifiable”. Honestly they are justifiable, some people just can’t take the truth. Cleveland sucks and I should know because I live in the heart of Downtown Cleveland. There is no nightlife, and if you don’t drink you mind as well go home and take your ass to sleep.

Why do anybody want to stay in this city or surrounding areas? People are moving out like greased lightning and soon I’ll be following suit. There should be a lot more to do downtown besides the Rock and Roll hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Science Center but what can you expect from a city that pins all its hope on revitalizing downtown by driving out all the businesses that help draw people to downtown for a few bars and clubs that aren’t even open til evening?

Isn’t it already well known that no one really likes Joakim Noah or do I have someone other shit talking NBA player mixed up with him? I think even a blind man can see that this character is trying to get in the Guinness World Record‘s for the most hated NBA player ever; more power to the clown.

Hell, look at the Cleveland Browns, they can’t stay out of jail to save their lives. Every other month to a week, one of them is in jail. So right on Joakim Noah, its about time someone said it!
