The biggest and most agavating problem is when I try to change to a different household it never loads the family.It just stays in mapview without any menus.I have to force quit the game thru Windows task manager because there is nothing I can click on. I took away all my costum content and diabled my dowlaods thru my lanucher and then tried to load the same household but the same thing happens.This only seems to happen to certain households and I don’t understand way.This household I haven’t used to get jods or use things from the Exspansion packs. I’ve had the same problem before and found a old backup from July last year and have been trying to get it caught up to the one I previously had. The same problem has accured on both games. Please help!!!!
Hey I have an unusual glitch to report, perhaps the scariest of them all.
I decided to hop into the game again after having an all day session on saturday. I have gotten quite far with this family and I would hate to have to delete it. When I hopped back into the game one of the children had disappeared. So I saved the game and rebooted Sims 3. Now physically, I could still control the Sim child at this point, even though she wasn’t there.
Note that she wasn’t an adopted child, and I’d adopted a child shortly after the glitch appeared.
When I went back into the game after rebooting it, I had a blank picture for all my Sim family. I thought that was okay, its probably nothing. So I go inside the game and I have no controls at all! No toggle thing, no buy, no wishes, just the main family. And the child Sim is still missing. So I have this family I have gotten quite far with, and NO CONTROLS WHATSOEVER.

So yesterday my sim got the opportunity to build a SimBot but I got bored of waiting for her life plant to grow every day and took the family to france. When I returned and collected the rest of the life fruit the opportunity panel just keeps saying “return home to complete this opportunity”. Now I can’t get any new opportunities or complete the simbot one which is really bugging me because I really want to MAKE a SimBot (not just buy one). Sigh
Well this isnt a huge problem or anything but I’m just kind of wondering about something. So, my family is of a couple who are engaged and live together but one of the guy’s wants is to move in with my other sim. They already live together though so I have no idea why that would be one of his wants…
Do you disregard the want and it keeps coming up or you make that one of his wants you want to accomplish?
yea thats what happened to me till i realized that its like they want to move into a “new house” together not just move in
My probkem is that one of my sims reached the top of the private investagator proffesion and i decided to play with another sim. While playing with another sim the private investagator continuned on with a ceromony at the city hall. Literly EVERYONE in my sim village is at city hall in celebration. So i changed active houses and went back to city hall where ever i move him other sims follow and cheer. there is no option to receive his award to end the celebration. i made him come home and sims are still celebrating. i had a sim die due to bad condidtions and constantly cheering. the only solution ive came across is changing active house and telling them to go home manually. but there has to be an easier way. PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!
That glitch can only be fixed with a patch from EA. Hopefully EA fixes all of these problems.

I just went back on to play Sims and the screen is totally messed up! 2/3rds of the screen is being used up and the rest is just black! I have no idea why this is happening because it was working perfectly fine before! Please help if you can!
well the firefighter problem is gone now and i ended up with an F but now its not doing it anymore even without the patch. lets hope it doesnt happen again…

Please help! Firefighter who cannot extinguish just one part of the fire and is currently getting a D grade because of it!
This is so annoying! so i have a firefighter and he can extinguish all the fire except for in one spot and when ever i click the extinguish action he just yells woohoo! at the fire and doesnt do anything!!!!
I just purchased Ambitions, (The physical copy, not the digital download) It asks me to update my game, and says “the setup will attempt to update the Sims 3″. So of course, I click “Yes” It says “Update in progress, please wait”. But then, I get a message saying “Update of the Sims 3 failed, Setup is unable to continue”. I’ve tried about four times, and keep getting the same results.
This happened to me, is there a solution yet?
Ambitions bugs I’ve encountered so far:
1) picture in digital frame missing on load up every single frickin’ time. *sigh*
2) My sim already acquinted with my other sim become strangers when she revisits their house. This happens randomly.
3) Designer profession stuck on job.
4) Sim is told by her boyfriend she is acting inappropriately when flirting in a house instead of him becoming jealous.
5) I’m sure there are more bugs…
I have the downloaded verison of Ambitions. I have encountered a problem with the Interior Design Career. It was running alright until I got to the 3rd part of my career then I never got any jobs showing up when my day started. I thought it may have just been part of that step to find your own so I kept playing. But I am now on the 4th part and I still don’t have any jobs. I also had a guy move in and got married at the same time this started happening. I don’t know weather it’s something to do with that or not. Anyways…Can someone please help me it’s very aggravating.
I was having two issues; one was my game not updating, and then next was when I installed ambitions, when my game loaded it had a weird display glitch, and then eventually crashed. I uninstalled Ambitions, and am currently trying to fix my update problem, so I haven’t checked if uninstalling ambitions changes my crash/display problem, but I would love a fix for that. Any help?
Oh, i found my problem. I deleted all my social mods, they are causing the problem. So if someone has the same problem like me – his sims can’t interact, to delete all his social mods like teen woohoo and/or teen pregnancy and/or teen marriage and other stuff like this. Hope i’ve helped.
Well when I go on vacation I cant excavate any relics. It just acts like they can’t reach it. Also, now my game just freezes non stop.
Second PS: Someone could have not understand me. I don’t mean that when i make my sim to do something he is stucked and don’t move. I mean that my sims can’t talk to each other, they just don’t have that menu. I tried to delete all of my mods and .sims3packages but yet doesn’t work so it’s not from there. If someone can tell me where is the problem i would be thankful.

So, i bought the new Sims 3 Ambitions yesterday and i installed it without problems. It was all fine untill i started it. The movie in the begining stopped and the the game stucked at the “The Sims 3 Ambition loading”. I realized that is from the awesomemod i had in mu Sims 3 base game folder so i deleted it. Everything was fine when i started my game for nearly 1000 time. I made a new family with a man, woman and toddler for son. Then i bought them a house and moved them there. So i wanted the mother to give a bottle to her son, and i cliked on him….. nothing happened… no interaction…this happened and when i was trying to get her and her hosband woohoo to get another child…nothing happened…I did what i could and it just doesn’t fixes….PLS HELP ME… I’m only 12 and i want to play………..
well wen i try to change my sims clothes they spin around and they r still wearin the same clothes… they cnt exercise and they cnt jump on the trampoline… help me plz i cnt take it its drivin me nuts…
Same here. I have the same problem. I’m hating this. My sims can’t even go to work because they can’t change clothes. And they can’t even sleep. I tried the resetsim but I didn’t work.
happend 2 me 2 i cant even switch my active households sometimes and my sims have only 4 traits when they really have 5. i dont like ambitions they could have done better with how they jump on the tramnpoline and how they get in cars. and they should make the explosions more realistic. and once in w a i went to france and my family got stuck there when i made them leave so i was playing no household. sims 3 should just fix everything and then make another expanion or stuff pack
The second bug I’ve noticed is I made a Laundromat for Sunset Valley but after (I think not sure when the bug started for sure) uploading to share the build all of the washers and dyers will not respond. So my sim who lives across the street is starting to have dirty laundry pile up on her
One of the most upsetting bugs I noticed right away was with the graveyard. I love to have a few of my sims hang out there. Before the first ambitions patch they could easily chat it up with the ghosts to build a romantic relationship. This gave them the ability to pick up the grave and in a way have ghost move them in. First step to many to work towards resurrecting them fully back to life.
They also (the ghosts) would hang out mostly in the grave yard. But now whenever you try to talk to a ghost now they fade away. And ALL of them when they rise at night walk out of the graveyard and drive away. I’ve yet to see one warp back to their graves at sunrise.
Also with one sim who has picked up a grave and brought it home (before the patch) is now waiting for her ghostly boyfriend to rise but with no luck. I’m not getting the playable ghost opportunity either from the science lab. It’s been at least twenty sim days
I installed Ambtions and everything went well.I took out my mods folder before I installed Ambtions then put it back after installing.I only have hair,some accessories, a few clothes, and the only hack I have would be the peggy skin for male and female.The only problem is with the houses that my Ghostbuster went to where he caught the ghosts but didn’t get the credit for now I can’t make them my active house. I click on their house but it stays in map view and the menus are gone.
Another problem is with the Firefighter and the Disaster mission. He goes in the jail and comes out but never completes the mission. I don’t think these problems are due to mods.I think I need a patch ASAP. Don’t know what to do in the mean time.I don’t know why EA would release this and not run into the same problems? Don’t they have testers for their products?
The way things are going, I think they’re too cheap to hire product testers.
Okay, so I have no custom content on my game. I had it delivered just a couple days ago, played with it fine. Then, when I tried to save on both save and save as, the error code 12 or 16 would come up. I was able to fix that. But, there is one bug that I can’t fix.
One of my sims who was in the firefighter career had just got back from taking care of a small house fire. When she arrived back at the fire station, all sound from the game went away. So no sound from the sims, music, controls, nothing. I was able to save, and then quit the game. The only problem is, when I quit the game, it takes FOREVER! I end up having to force my computer to shut down. Its like the game froze when shutting down.
I then restarted the game, same thing happened. I haven’t tried it off of the fire station, though. I did get the sim to leave to station while at work, and then save. Of course the same thing happened when the sound problem arose. Ended up having to shut the computer down, again. I don’t know what else to do. Its rather annoying to play a game without sound. Have any suggestions?
I was really excited to get my Ambitions pack. Nothing went wrong at first, until I had twins. One of the babies first showed up as a flesh colored tube stretching into the heavens, starting in the mother’s arms. I made her grow up via a cheat and her body appeared behind her floating head and legs.Her arms resembled spiders legs coming down from the ceiling. Anybody have any idea about what the heck this is???
Do you have any Mods installed that came from the exchange or a modding site? If so…remove them under your Launcher under ‘Installed Content’. Your twins that you made probably won’t look right so you may have to just discard them altogether. Something like that happened to me and all I had to do was remove the custom content.
i had this too, it was custom content. I found out what it was specifically (clothing) and deleted it. In the mean time I just changed the outfit of the sim and it went back to normal.
One that has been annoying is when I’m in Buy or Build mode on a lot. I’ll try to slide over close to a particular room, zoomed in pretty close, and it’s like the camera hits a wall. It will slide to the left or right, but no closer to the room. I end up having to zoom out, rotate so I’m looking straight down on the room, and zoom back in. It’s annoying because I try to get a perfect angle and distance for designing a room.
Another bug (pun intended) was when I caught a rare Rainbow Butterfly. Before I had a chance to donate it, I had my Sim doing other things and I think I entered Buy/Build mode, too. When I got around to donating it, I saw it was missing from my Sim’s inventory. I definitely had not sold it in the inventory pane, since I was still dirt poor, and I noticed a couple of common butterflies I had caught were still in my inventory.
One time while taking a picture of a room my architect Sim had designed, instead of seeing the usual camera viewing rectangle, I saw just a black square in the center of the screen. After a few seconds, my game crashed out to the desktop.
Well i got amabitions and it was wrking fine but decided to have my sims get married as they had 2 kids but i dont have the romanic option and they cant marry

My sim went in vacation to Egypt, and when she returned home she was invisible and will not move or do any actions. Help!?

Having lots of problems with Ambitions. No custom content or anything.
Sims get stuck when dealing with babies/toddlers. For example, one of my Sims was teaching his son to talk and when it was done, they just got stuck. Now they’re both sitting on the floor starving. Doesn’t affect any of the other household members. Usually it last about a minute or two, this time doesn’t seem to pass.
Ice sculptures of Sims cost $0 at the consignment store and for some Opportunities, where you need to deliver a sculpture, you get $0, doesn’t matter what kind of sculpture.
Sim’s Traits get lost during the game, but only with the Sims, who I’ve raised up from babies. Sims done in the Create a Sim mode haven’t had that problem.
The rewards you can buy for life time happiness also sometimes disappear. Lots of them don’t seem to work anyway. Until installing Ambitions only a couple of them didn’t work, now it seem there are a lot more (for example Observant). New ones don’t seem to have any affect too.
There have been many more, but most of them are not very common. I can’t remember a Sims without any bugs. I’ve had almost all of them, starting from the original The Sims. Every patch/EP they make fixes some of the bugs and creates a lot of new ones.
Well, I’ve had no problems but one. It started today– At random times, the game would freeze, but not…really. My Sims would freeze what ever they were doing, and my controls stall as well. Everything else continued. (Tree’s moving, shower’s steam moving, luckily NOT time, but fire continuing, ect). My Sims and controls were…just not working. Then after a minute or two, it’ll all go back to normal. I had to stop playing today because it got really bad! =(
That has happened to me before, I just simply saved and restarted my computer and it went away. That may not work for you though. I also cut the graphics down in the game and that seemed to help it.

My problem with the sims 3 ambitions starts when the townspople begin to honoring at the city hall. They won’t leave and the game crashes when i go there with my sim. It’s allso not possible to visit the townspeoples home because they are never there (they are honoring someone at the city hall….)
Try making that family the active household and move them out of that home and stick them some where else. You can also try to rest them all using the reset sim cheat.
The reset sim doesn’t work it keeps on crashing. I have tried almost every possible solution i could find… It would have been easier if an error message would show up..

Every time I use the Make Over at the spa where I make over my own sim, when I get done my sim aged by days, or it resets their “day” age back to near the beginning :_:
That’s going to need one of EA’s ‘wonderful’ patches to fix that.
I just bought Ambitions today and it worked just fine until I created a new family. I moved them in a house and clicked on the “play” button (The one that says “click here to start playing”). Then nothing happens, but I can’t click on the “back”-arrow either. All other things work fine (including the camera) so the game doesn’t really freeze. I can go back to Edit Town but when I do it, it says that the house I moved a family to is empty. Anyone else who had this kind of bug?
I bought the sims 3 ambitions yesterday, i was so excited to play it and then it wouldnt work. It would play the video and then freeze at the loading screen. It said something to do with awesome mod, so i took that off. And it worked until i went into my family and i cant control my sims. instead of there faces in the icon fingies, der is some woman sim with brown hair and instead of four faces of my sim der is 24 of her! Can anyone plz help me?
Remove ALL mods and relocate the mods folder away from the primary Sims 3 folder.
I had this problem too. Try putting them in a different house, evict them, and put them in the original house. If that doesn’t work, are you going from playing a family to editing the town, or are you just going straight into edit town? If you’re playing a family, to edit town, try clicking edit town from the main menu. If you’re going from edit town to playing a family, trying playing a family already moved in and then moving in your new family.

Ambitions works just fine for me… except for one part.
Since installing Ambitions, the installed content (Riverview, item packs, clothing packs etc.) doesn’t appear. I tried reinstalling the content, but every time I run the game everything I installed disappears from my “Installed Content” tab in the Sims 3 Launcher. The only things that are there are the M and F “Overalls With Long Sleeve Shirt” and “Water Tower With Checkered Border.”
Considering the installed content makes up at least half of the items/clothing in my game, it’s kind of frustrating not having them there. How do I get my installed content working again?
Try checking the folder that the installed content goes to and see if the files are in there. Your computer may be deleting your files.
What folder would that be? The Documents>Electronic Arts>Sims 3>Downloads folder where the package files are, or where the files go once I install them? If it’s the former the files are still there and aren’t being deleted; I don’t know where the latter is.
I had no problem with installed content when I was just playing World Adventures, so I’m unsure if it’s my computer deleting the files.
Since they’re still there, for some reason The Sims 3 isn’t detecting them. Have you tried uninstalling Ambitions to see if they’ll be there? If so, and they are then its probably Ambitions. EA will probably come out with yet another update. Click here. This might shed some light on why there are so many issues.
I think it has to do with the patch EA applied to the game to transition World Adventures to Ambitions. I uninstalled Ambitions to see if installing the content and THEN Ambitions would work, so I installed the content after patching up World Adventures (from 2.0something to 2.7orsomething), and the content wouldn’t stick.
The content worked fine when it was just World Adventures, but as soon as I patched up it stopped staying installed.
Hopefully EA will come out with a (working) patch for this quickly.
That’s what I was thinking…They make it so frustrating where you have to install the patches for the games to even work/install.
Yeah, I had to install the patch in order to run World Adventures again (which was annoying an unnecessary), meaning that I can’t even play WA with the downloaded content any more. I’d have to uninstall WA and reinstall THAT, which is altogether too much hassle to go to.
I don’t understand how there are so many different issues with The Sims 3. Technology has gotten greater since The Sims 2 and even The Sims 2 didn’t have this many problems. You got more bang for your buck at that. They want you to pay for everything to get things that should of came with the game by default.
Another thing that might be more of an annoyance than a bug. After making a simbot, no matter the relationship status a person has with that simbot, they’ll get the “A Simbot!” interaction EVERY–FIVE–SECONDS!! Okay, we get it! There is an unnatural creation right in front of you!! You’ve known it for weeks now and you still stop what your doing whenever it enters the room.
Another annoying thing that I’m encountering actually is a glitch. For some reason one of my sims has an eternal Visceral Nausea moodlet even though there isn’t anymore Tiberium in his inventory and it’s been way past two hours.
You can hold CTRL + Shift and click to remove a negative moodlet. Just make sure you open up the command window [CTRL+Shift + C] and type in ‘testingcheatsenabled true’ and press enter.
I’ve managed to find two pretty major bugs that have only happened a few times.
The first one is with the firefighter profession. When the “Deal with Disaster” event happens. On occasion the firefighters will go in, deal with the disaster, and come out without logging the event complete. So I’ve sent them in over and over again and nothing, they come out within a few minutes.
The other one happened once when going to Egypt. When I got to Egypt, the Sims didn’t appear. I tried a self remedy and somehow managed to have one of the Egyptian families as my home family on the lot that my original Sims were. Those sims have vanished off of the face of the planet
At least a copy was saved, but I had to start all the way from the beginning. Two lvl 8 Ghost hunters and a lvl 7 scientist.
MESS up with investigator career:
I have 3 roommates in my household and One is an investigator and she was assigined to spy or her roommate to see if he was going to propose to his girlfriend soon (the girl friend hired me) So i had to look thought his mail (which is her mail too, she lives there) and that went fine then i had to LOOK THOUGH OUR TRASH and there are no options on our trash!!
I cant find where to drop the assigment

I cant make everyone leave the house and then try to look though it- still no options
I cant ask him or his girl friend for help
Since installing Ambitions, I haven’t been able to click on sims to interact with them. Example: Say my Sim wants to talk to her friend. When I go to click on the friend, nothing happens. No “No available interactions”. No “So-and-so is going home”. Nothing happens. At all. I use mods and CC, but even when I delete things nothing happens. Any idea why it could be doing this?
Make sure you’ve removed ALL the mods, including the folder. If you still have it in your primary Sims 3 folder that can cause issues with the game as well.
Hello there i has this problem when i first installed as well i had to take everything out and start over. I am not sure what causes the problem. I have a theory that it was one of the mods i had installed. THe reason i think this is that when i cleaned everything out the games worked (wa hls and ambitions) but i put the mods and clothes and etc back and had the same problem. I am testing each mod as i go but am not sure wich one caused the problem . hope this helped
The mods are probably older than the latest patches EA have made. Mods and expansion packs tend to clash and make a game crash and is the main source to anyone with a issue.
You may have to do a complete clean swipe by reinstalling your game.
okay i’ve been playing the sims 3 fine with world adventures and the stuff pack, with all my downloads, but then when i tried to install ambitions, everything worked fine, until i clicked on the game launcher. something poped up telling me to go check my log for something, and then i uninstalled the sims 3 ambitions and it still said the same thing, so i uninstalled everything from the sims, and reinstalled it, and the game launcher worked fine for everyone of them……..except ambitions, and again when i uninstall it, it still says the same thing! please somebody help me!!
I’ve been playing Sims 3 with World Adventures for some time, created my own custom house on a lot I built on in Sunset Valley and after loading and installing Ambitions the whole game, even the options were all reset to default.
I lost my Sims, my house that I built, all the time I invested into them, I’m really ticked off. World Adventures didnt do anything like this to my existing game.
EA should warn people about this happening before they release a faulty product.
They better get a patch out there quick….
I’m just wondering if anyone else has had my problem: I have a Sim in the stylist career and after the first day, they won’t go to work, or if I accept a job, then it resets the sim back at their house. I’ve tried it with two families so far, but not with any other careers.
I’m going to try to re-install the game w/o the new patch but

I have an issue with the ghostbuster profession. At level 5, there’s a new kind of mission in which I have to find ghosts and then banish them. Every time, I have to find 2 ghosts and only 1 is present on the lot. I can search in all rooms, including outside, bathrooms, basement and laundry rooms and there’s always only one ghost. Because of that, it’s impossible to complete these missions.
I have a massive problem with Ambitions, that no one else seems to have so I have no idea how to fix it.
I can install and play the game, but all the new features such as extra jobs and tattoos and things all don’t work, it’s just a blank blue oval when you try to interact with new things.
I’ve tried getting a new disc, reinstalling, everything I can think of, nothing works, please, I really need help here.
I just got Sims 3 Ambitions and installed it through the digital download. I played it for a bit and then I noticed that when I tried to click on another sim and do interactions nothing would show up. It wouldn’t let me click on anything. When I tried to click on the sim I was actively playing nothing would show up either, I couldn’t even meditate. The only time an interaction menu would appear was when I was using the testingCheatsEnabled true cheat and I pressed ctrl and clicked, but even then all I could do was modify traits or do an age transition. The Interaction menus would work on objects, just not sims.
So after that I went and downloaded a mod manager to see if that would help because of the custom content and game mods I have installed. It didn’t help so I decided to disable my custom content through the game launcher. I reloaded the game and I could click on other sims and do interactions, however now the entire town is red. I didn’t get any error messages saying that my graphics card has a problem and the graphics were working fine before. I even went back and re-enabled my custom content and I was still able to click on my sims, but the graphics are all shaded in red. Anyone having a similar problem?
Hi, I was so happy to see the new expansion come out!! That is, of course, until I had to pay $40 for something that doesn’t work right!!! I am not able to interact with my babies, or toddlers!
My sim couple had their first child and nothing they or anyone else can do seems to give the kid positive relationship points. He is just forever stuck at 0 for everyone…
i just got this game for my birthday, and its not working, i only have: sims 3, and JUST got the new game, i uninstalled it, then re-installed it, and it asks for only the ambitions cd, not the MAIN cd which would be the SIMS 3 right?? what did i do? it also says this when i DO put it in…Windows cannot find the ambitions game. make sure you typed it correctly, and then try again!???? PLEASE HELP!!!
every time you install an expansion pack it will ask for the expansion disc to be inserted.Put ambitions disc in and press ok. ie; i have sims 3

with each install after i installed sims 3 i had to use the new expansion disc to run the game
I installed Ambitions, but NRaas story mod seems to be wonky. I downloaded the new one, but all my other custom content dont seem to be appearing on my Sim’s heads! they all look like bald eggs now. this is weird becos in CAS th hair appears.
Remove all mods, that can screw up a game royally.
I have the digital download version of this game and it updates just fine. But when i try to play there’s few issues.
The loading screen is all messed up, this doesn’t matter actually.
But when i try to load new town, game just crashes.
And nothing helps, i have tried to re-install the game but it doesn’t work.
Im so pissed! These games cost far too much and they never work without problems!
I just got Sims 3 Ambitions today and whenever I make my sim do laundry, after he gets the cloths out of the dryer, he won’t go to work and he won’t go to bed.
I just got Sim 3 Ambitions and this is the only problem i ever had that after i installed it. When i load up my active household it crashes to the desktop every single time. So in away i can’t play the game at all with out it crashing.
