The Sims 3: Ambitions Glitches, Bugs, and Errors

If you read my Sims 3 and Sims 3 World Adventures blog on the errors, bugs, and glitches in the game, this would be no different. This will be a list of reported errors in The Sims 3 Ambitions.

Note: Some of these issues if you’re having them can be resolved by uninstalling custom content and removing the mods folder out of your Sims 3 primary folder. If your game crashes or you get an error when you ‘Save’ next time try ‘Save As…’ it will usually bypass the errors and save your game. Also if you go to your Twinbrook library and there are no skill books, go to edit town mode and replace that library with one in Riverview or Sunset Valley [or just find a book shelf with skill books and place them in Twinbrook's library.]. Or simply just visit the bookstore.

If  Sims get stuck on a bed or in a floor, pull up the console [CTRL + SHIFT +C] and type in ‘moveobjects’ to move your Sim. If that doesn’t work bring back up the console and type in ‘Sim’s Name resetsim’.

• I just purchased Ambitions, (The physical copy, not the digital download) It asks me to update my game, and says “the setup will attempt to update the Sims 3″. So of course, I click “Yes”  It says “Update in progress, please wait”. But then, I get a message saying “Update of the Sims 3 failed, Setup is unable to continue”. I’ve tried about four times, and keep getting the same results.

Game keeps crashing to desktop after updating and installing The Sims 3 Ambitions.

Custom content/store items won’t work.

Game crashes to desktop when trying to save game.

Twinbrook library not having books.

Troubles with ‘Co-signment Store’.

Sims getting stuck on bed.

Sim’s cooking the same dishes indefinitely.

Sound in the game ‘stalls’.

I have a Sim couple, no matter who I have selected it shows the image of the hubby on the navigation pane. My Sims will stand and view an item all day unless I make them stop, they just stand there in ‘view’ mode.

Can’t change active household.

Sim’s can’t go to school to learn to paint.

Sim’s can’t ‘excavate’.

Missing Ambition’s traits.

I have a group house and some of the Sims show up in the relationship panel of the other household members as having only 3 or 4 traits when they actually have 5. Its odd but doesn’t affect the gameplay for me.

I had a Sim on one of the foggy Twinbrook lots at first and the graphics goes a bit stripey sometimes. It only happened on the permanent foggy lot not on the lots infested by ghosts.

Married and engaged couples haven’t even had their first kiss. You get the first kiss interaction under romantic. The Greenwood family is married with two kids yet they had never kissed.

The only big glitch I’ve had so far is with the ghost hunting career. My Sim went to exorcise poltergeists, but then when he got to the house, the poltergeists disappeared from sight. The weird thing though was when I clicked on the couch, it still had the option to exorcise a ghost. So silly me said, “huh, wonder what happens when I try it.” My Sim got stuck in sucking in nothing and then froze completely while his mood continued depleting to really bad levels. I eventually figured out that if I evict the people living there with all their stuff, my Sim went back to normal.

Artist Sim’s can no longer paint still lives or portraits. Sim  can still get in camera mode and snap a shot but then forgets about painting altogether.

Some people including the repairman are invisible and can only see their thought bubbles.

Most of my Sims are creating doubles of themselves and the double is not related to them in anyway. I’ve been killing them off but it takes a while.

My Sim goes to put out a large house fire. Sometimes when it says I need to save more than one Sim, there’s a Sim missing so I never get to ‘save’ everyone. So I just end up going home and going to sleep. Eventually it gives me a message saying that I failed to complete the task and it’ll hurt my work performance, but just barely.

The only glitch that I have noticed is that my Sim is in the inventor profession. To move past level 1 he needs to make over 30 or 40 Simoleans I believe, well he has exceeded that way beyond, he’s sold so far over 1000 and the game still says he needs 2 Simoleans more to progress to the next job level, it’s really frustrating cause he is already Level 7 in his inventing skill but still has a level 1 in job.

Cannot interact with Sims.

Sims joined the stylist profession and can do house calls now but cannot do makeovers at the Sims house.

A firefighter changed into his street clothes, instead of his fire suit when responding to an emergency.

Sim’s turn all black [silhouette-like].

I installed Ambitions, right away I changed the current household that I was playing to my favorite one.  In my favorite household, I got the “main” Sim a job in Ghost Hunting. Everything was going great, until I switched households.When I came back to my favorite household, whenever I went on Ghost Hunting missions, even if I banish the spirits, the blue box on the left of the screen still says “Banish Spirits: 0/5″ (I also noticed that recently, it’s always out of 5, no other number).Same with the rabbit hole Ghost missions. My Sim goes inside the rabbit hole and I don’t hear about what happens inside the rabbit hole for a while… But instead of the pop-ups just popping up one at a time as my Sim progresses, tons of them pop up at once instead.After my Sim supposedly completes the mission, when I go to map view I still haven’t completed the mission and if I go back into the rabbit hole, a few seconds later my Sim just comes back out. I tried switching households and then going back to my favorite one. Didn’t work. I tried to use the “resetsim” cheat on the ghost hunter Sim. Didn’t work.

The only one I had was when putting out a large house fire I got all the fires out and rescued the people but it kept saying I hadn’t extinguished it all. This went on until I got to Grade F. And the alarm would not stop so my poor tired girl had to sleep on a park bench because she is Lvl 10 and can work from home. So every time she went home or the station the alarm would continue to go off.

I was digging in a trash pile, before I learned the inventing skill, and automatically salvaged a ‘globe’ decor (forgot the real name). The globe on a stand. Anyway, it is stuck in my Sim’s inventory and I cannot sell, delete, or otherwise get rid of it.

Inventor’s sales are not recognized and can’t advance levels.

Error Code 16.

Game is missing career’s.

Take Note: Most issues, bugs, errors and glitches probably won’t have an immediate solution. Most will probably need a patch/update from EA. Which in recent studies have proven to be more of a problem than a solution. Hopefully this time, that won’t be the case. I would like to apologize on the behalf of every Sim player who have been a fan of The Sims since the beginning. I know these problems is stressful and all you want is to play your game that you’ve paid for.

Also! I’m not going to have all the answers. I don’t work with EA and I can’t stress that enough. I just list the errors and help with the ones I can fix. Please don’t get upset with me because of EA. If you don’t get a response from me its because I’m busy or your comment got overlooked due to the amount of comments I get about the glitches. & I can’t just sit here and find your specific comment amongst hundreds of comments. You mind as well re-post your errors and hope I or someone else see it.
