Why the NEW “We are the World” SUCKS!
Okay now okay we all know about the earth quakes in Haiti.
So music artist have been fund raising; but after watching the ‘we are the world’ remake, I was highly disgusted. Like seriously I know they are trying to help, but how the hell do they get that many music artists together and come out with the worst sound I ever heard in my life. Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lil’ Wayne, T-Pain you SUCKED!
Why would you add rappers to we are the world? Seriously I really don’t get why they did that, who ever is responsible for doing this should be fired. The rappers murdered the song (yes in the most horrible way too).
They couldn’t even let go of the Auto-Tune for the sake of Haiti. Good grief…then they had to go and continue the mess with garbage ass rapping. T-Pain and Lil’ Wayne should go skip rocks with their faces across an active volcano. -Asilee
Rappers should had sat down, got some cookies which I’m sure they were serving and just danced in the background.
I know Michael Jackson is probably like “What a fuck up…I am DISAPPOINTED!!”. Even Jay-Z here said they shouldn’t of made a remake.
“I’m a fan of music. I know the plight and everything that’s going on in Haiti. I applaud the efforts: (Millions have been raised) through text (donations) to Haiti. So I appreciate the efforts and everything, but ‘We Are the World‘ is (musically) untouchable like ‘Thriller’ is untouchable. Some things are just untouchable. It was a valiant effort, but for me, it’s gonna be untouchable.” – Jay-Z
Although I hope they raised enough money with this piece of crap and helped the Haitian people, thank you.
Update: Now there is a Spanish version of ‘We are the World’. Lets just hope it sounds better than the English version. I got a feeling its about to be a wave of fail coming from different versions of ‘We are the World’ coming real soon.

I can’t believe with the resources and talents available, they couldn’t write a NEW SONG!!
Come on!! Rehashing is lazy.
For a snippet of what some emerging artists did in 10 days from scratch,
check this out:

The page loads with a short edit of the song.
Cheers
It sucked definitely and it was also laughable.
The Haitian guy was epic funny with his distorted voice, even worse than Lil Wayne, lool.
They completely messed the whole song up.
A brave remix.
It was nice to see some seasoned talent in this old song. I am impressed that Barbara Streisand left her bubble. Gladys Knight should have had a lead role. Pink sounded great.
Was that Frank Sinatra? If so, groovy!
My God, Jamie Fox’s impression of Ray Charles is uncanny!
I was a baritone and had to sing this song in choir class when I was in grade school. We did not have the technology that is available today. As such, we had to actually sing to be in the choir.
In my opinion, the auto-tune rap crew cut the sack off the whole project, simply because their contribution to this worthy cause required post production methods to make them sound adequate. I think it laughable that some of these dudes actually have egos, since they are a short distance away from being entirely replaced by computers. Just like drum machines replaced drummers in the 90s, rappers will be next to go, because they now use the same technology that is going to kick them in the ass.
That screechy man was also annoying. Where did they find him?
The fact they had to sample Michael to lend some authenticity to the song, was misplaced and lame. Michael is not a sample. Michael was a meticulous man. I strongly feel this shit would not have set sail if he had any say-so.
In conclusion, I would be pissed off if another country offered this revived, unauthentic half-assery to USA in our time of need.
Well put.
Why do they have to include rap into this classic? The rap totally ruined the song.
Exactly.
A few of them were actually good. If they would of planned this with rehearsals and grouped together the ones with talent they could’ve had something… but, no they decided to take whoever they could who would either do it for nothing or very little pay at all. I highly doubt no one was payed for this. I would’ve been ashamed to have been involved in the making of this. By the way there has been 2 more earthquakes and I don’t see them making a song over it. Instead of wasting their time trying to go over to Haiti and help they all come together and sing and have a good time. Why’ll the others are either sitting at home not caring or going to actually help Haiti.
I was wondering why Jay Z and Beyonce weren’t in the mix. I totally agreed w/ his statement — the original is untouchable. This would have never happened if Michael Jackson was still alive. The most laughable to me was the inclusion of Barbara Streisand…what? why? Senseless…
Absolutely. The worst part was the actually RAP. will.i.am did pretty good in the non-rap parts, but lil wayne and t-pain were… horrible. the second worst was the justin bieber solo. he sounded like a girl. so high pitched. *wince* i don’t HATE him, i think baby was ok, but this was bad. he needs to mature, he sounds like a 10-year-old boy, maybe a 15-year-old girl, in we are the world.
You know what would of made it worse? If they had Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane in there rapping as well.
I am a huge fan of the Original Song. And after watching this “New Version” of it, I became an even greater fan of “The Original Version.” There’s only one man to blame for all this mess – Lionel Richie. He was the remaining sentinel of the original version and he let this happen. It just goes to show the quality of Music Artists we have nowadays. Replacing a Lionel Richie intro of the music with a Fucking 18 year old kid who doesn’t even know what he’s doing…Bloody hell people what were you thinking!!! And the crazy Haitian Dude with the voice of a turkey being butchered, now that’s something for the record books!!!!! – RV
I watched the whole thing for the first time and I have to say, it was HORRIBLE in so many ways. Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, TPain and etc. The rap part absolutely murdered the song as you said…
A great song butchered like that. REALLY TERRIBLE.
Indeed.
Ok…So I just watched that piece of crap in its entirety. THAT WAS SIMPLY PAINFUL!!!
I can appreciate the effort, but oh my god …IT SUCKED!!!! They butchered a great song.
Rap in “We are the World”..what were they thinking. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
I agree with that %100.
nice video…. love it..
I will have to agree with this %100. This was a royal fuck-up on everyone involved behalf. What in the flying fuck were they thinking?
The fact is; they weren’t thinking Chris.
Lol, I concur.
