Down with L4D 2 Boycott

August 14, 2009

This boycott is stupid…and I can tell you why in one really stupid video.

Lets not forget the site… L4d2 Boycott

Oh, here’s another one.

There is so much I would like to say about this whole boycott situation, I just don’t have the time. See, you would think Photobucketpeople would boycott other more important things besides some silly video game. I would like to say first about this whole boycott things is these are just a bunch of boo-hoo cry-baby gamers who didn’t get what they want. The fact that there are over 18,500 members that support this boycott must mean that this video game must meant a lot to them for them to go all out. The hilarity in all of this is they are still going to buy the game. I guess this boycott just give people something to do.

See, they talking about how the game came out so soon because they 1st one came out last year. They began working on the 2nd one in January so I’ve heard. People are saying that this game has came out too early, and that it hasn’t been a year since the first one was released. NEWS FLASH! it will be a year when the second one is finally released. I don’t see people boycotting Activision/Neversoft for Guitar Hero because of the timing of their games. They have released a good 2-3  Guitar Hero games this year and the 3rd one don’t come out October which is when the first one came out. New releases/sequels to video games are usually released around the same time the first game was released the next or following year.

Anyway, the timing is one of the reasons why they’re boycotting Left 4 Dead 2. Another reason is because they were basically married to Zoey, Louis, Bill and Frank so they’re pissed that they won’t be in the 2nd one. I bet only a select few has read any of the reviews or commentaries on why they aren’t in the 2nd one. Well here’s a key snippet in case anyone who read up on it and then joined the boycott missed it.

Faliszek: Leaving them behind was a weird case of us wanting to expand the world and not saying we’re done with them yet. They’re not dead, but we wanted to have this kind of other track, and we talked about going to the South, and it doesn’t make sense that, like, Zoey’s in her jumpsuit down South and she’s mysteriously living in Savannah as well.

The Left 4 Dead World doesn’t have a super amount of strict fictional rules, but it does have some fictional rules. The characters actually did a little arc, they go from Philadelphia and eventually to like, Airy Peiy, and they escape, and they’re up there now, so we wanted then to do this other thing and go across the South, and with that it didn’t make sense to have the same characters.

It’s scary making new characters, it’s a terrifying process because you look back at Zoey and Louis and Bill and Francis and you see people’s excitement over them, and your own excitement for them, your own love for them, and it’s really scary, I’m like, “Oh my God are we going to go through that again?” But you know, we’ve done GLaDOS, we’ve done Alyx Vance, we’ve done other characters that I think people remember and I think every time we do it it’s this scary thing.

I’d say the characters took the absolute most time [to develop]. From January 1, until you saw them at E3, was just non-stop working on them.

So yea, they’re not dead, they’re still there waiting for you in Left 4 Dead 1.  Here’s a great translation to this whole boycott L4D2 ordeal…

“Hey Everyone”

“We must boycott L4D2″

“Significant content was promised, and not delivered yet, ad I’m an impatient bitch who assumes that it can’t come after the release of the sequel. As we know, Valve is incapable of supporting multiple games.”

“I’m just gonna show a big middle-finger for my group emblem so people will be clear about how immature and irrational I am”

“Join the group so I can have a bunch of more impatient, irrational idiots to bitch with.”

If that doesn’t sum up this whole boycott then nothing will.

The other reason as noted before is because of what they said was “promised” to them. Well shit happens and humans aren’t perfect. This version of Left 4 Dead will have the same feel to it to an extent, you’re still shooting zombies and getting PWND by horde so I don’t see whats the huge fuss about it.

There were a lot of people saying that Left 4 Dead was going to be a terrible game but look how that turned out, they’ve won over 40 awards for Left 4 Dead. The game is addictive and I’m positive the 2nd one will be too. People hate change until it happens. They’re being very hypocritical about this though, how do you find a game “great and exciting to play” but bash a game that hasn’t came out yet? Its practically the same game with new characters and SI.

Next there is some saying that the reason there is a boycott is because they are going to split communities. Well they got that part down to a science. We have L4D Fans in one corner and L4D Boycotters in the other, I guess we will have to treat this like a boxing match.

Valve doesn’t owe us  gamers anything.

Whats funny is that were saying they wanted the new DLC to be free. Lets just say, Free = no more L4D. Money is needed to make progress. All in all you boycotters should boycott when they stop making Left 4 Dead not when they are trying to keep you happy.
