The Good; The Bad; & The Ugly in Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland Ohio is where I reside and I have to say, there’s more ugly and bad about Cleveland, Ohio than there is good. I guess I can get the good out of the way since the list is going to be so short.

The Good

The Cleveland Orchestra

Long considered one of America’s great orchestras, The Cleveland Orchestra stands today among the world’s most-revered symphonic ensembles. In concerts at home in Severance Hall, each summer as part of the Blossom Festival, in residencies from Miami to Vienna, and on tour around the world, The Cleveland Orchestra continues to set standards of artistic excellence, imaginative programming, and community engagement.

The Health Museum

Which is now called The Cleveland Museum of Natural History. [Which has now moved]

Today, the Museum is considered one of the finest institutions of its kind in North America. Its mission emphasizes scientific research, conservation and education.

The Museum offers an extraordinary visitor experience. Permanent exhibits of special interest include the 3 million-year-old human ancestor Australopithecus afarensis, known as “Lucy,” and the 150 million-year-old Haplocanthosaurus delfsi, one of the most complete mounted sauropods on display anywhere in the world.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum

Every year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum welcomes visitors from all 50 states and 100 countries the world over. Since we opened our doors in 1995, seven million visitors have toured the Rock Hall.  We’ve worked hard to live up to our reputation as the preeminent home for the celebration and study of rock and roll music. With a full calendar of exciting events and an amazing array of exhibits filled with painstakingly preserved and creatively displayed artifacts, this is the ultimate place to learn about rock and roll and how it continues to shape our lives.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

The oldest park district in Ohio, the Cleveland Metropolitan Park District was born in 1917, the initiative of a young, self-taught engineer who had conceived the idea of an outer chain of parks with connecting boulevards some 12 years earlier. William Stinchcomb’s genius was to anticipate the future need for open space at a time when Cuyahoga County outside of Cleveland was still largely rural. From a few scattered donations of land in the Rocky River Valley, the Park District grew to embrace some of the most scenic areas of Greater Cleveland.

I can’t think of anything else good about Cleveland. Oh but the bad and the ugly? I have plenty to list about that.

The Bad

The Cleveland RTA Healthline

Welcome to RTA’s HealthLine. Or maybe you remember it as The Euclid Corridor? Yep – We got a new name – thanks to a partnership from the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital. And to make good on the name, the HealthLine is helping lead (okay, “drive”) the rebirth of Euclid Avenue. After all, this sleek rapid transit line isn’t just moving passengers from places like Public Square to University Circle in 12 minutes flat. It’s moving our economy toward numbers like $4.3 billion in economic development. Not to mention, making our city a little greener, thanks to hybrid technology and 1,500 new trees (no wonder that little bird is so happy). So hop on board. And see how the RTA HealthLine truly is pumping new life into Cleveland.

Not only is it [the bus stops or stations] sitting in the middle of the street but its an eye sore and dangerous.  The way this was designed and made was really careless. People who are in cars have to stay out of the buses lane or get their ears blown out by these loud bus horns if you don’t move. Then the lane next to the bus only lane that’s the left turn only lane, you have to wait til the buses go by to make a left turn. That’s not what makes it dangerous though. Its in the middle of the street. I’ve seen children who has climbed down from that platform or sit on the edge because their parents are too careless to watch them. People end up running in the street to catch a bus instead of running on the sidewalk to catch the bus.

The Construction

I think I’ve seen more construction in Cleveland than anything else. I don’t think the crime rate in Cleveland is on the same level as construction and that’s saying a damn lot. The CAC or the Cleveland Athletic Club ended up closing because of the mass construction that was done while it was open. People who joined this club couldn’t get to it because of all the construction. You couldn’t park any where! They had to close because lack of members joining, returning, or coming because of the eye sore of those dreadful orange cones; amongst other reasons.

The Tower City Mall, Theater and Amphitheater

With over 100 specialty shops, six full-service restaurants, 11-screen theater, Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City, 2 Hotels and easy access through our connected walkway to Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena, Tower City is your downtown choice to shop, dine, play and stay!

Yea, it might sound all good and what not but who wants to dine, play and stay right above a damn rapid station? The whole first two floors of this used to be subway/train station shakes uncontrollably. Even the movie theater looks like it hasn’t even been remodeled since the 1900′s. The seats are hard, the floor sticks to your shoes, the screen’s quality look like Zenith floor model televisions with a bulb gone out in it. [Do Zenith even exist any more?] Not only that, you get harassed by the flash light cops for your identification. Yes you have to be a certain age to be on certain floors or in certain parts of the mall. If you don’t and you put up a fuss, you will get arrested by 5-0 which patrols the mall like they don’t have anything better to do. Oh yea, the front of the building is an eye sore;  it always smell like hot piss and beer no matter what the season. There are gates and other construction crap for your enjoyment. It looks like a concert is about to start everyday.

The Lack of Jobs & Opportunities

Well that’s for almost every major city on the east coast. Here though? The unemployment rate is almost 10.0. We got people who say they’re hiring, but aren’t actually hiring. Even McDonald’s and other fast food restaurants here are picky about who they hire. I don’t know if its like this any where else but here you have to have a high-school diploma or a GED to work at a fast food restaurant. If you don’t have that then you’re not working there.

The Cleveland Browns

Need I say more? The Cleveland Browns are a disgrace to the NFL. When was the last time they won ANYTHING? How many coaches has The Cleveland Browns had? I’ve lost count. I mean don’t like them or The Cavaliers. I don’t like The Cleveland Browns because they suck. The Cavaliers, I never liked them and I’m not going to start.

I guess I can start on the ugly now. I think that’s enough of the bad. I have to go and do the good over on a later date because I believe I’ve forgotten a few good things about Cleveland.

The Ugly

The Citizens

Man you would think this was back when there were separate bathrooms, restaurants and water fountains for different races as racist as these people are here. Then we got those who feel that they think they are safer on the West Side of Cleveland than the East Side of Cleveland. They fail to realize; East or West its STILL CLEVELAND. They get to bashing and downing people that they have no means of knowing at all.

The Mayor

He has no clue to what he want to do. He as corrupted as them folks that the FBI bombarded in on because they were taking tax payers money and buying large houses, cars, and other expensive shit they could of bought on their own salary. The crime rate went up the moment he stepped into office. I mean hell his niece or whatever was dating a convict and when it came down to it, she was a convict as well. No need to tell me that I voted for him, because I didn’t. I think I was 17 when he got into office so I couldn’t vote anyway.

The Cleveland Clinic

They are on my ugly list because they are so damn greedy. They buy out all these businesses, knock down all these rec’s, throw up this big dumb ass pond or parking garage(s) that they don’t need all because they can. Its like they don’t give a shit. They want to take everyone’s business or recreation center and turn into a vacant lot for years until they decide on what they want to do with it. Cleveland Clinic may be one of the best Hospitals in the nation but damn, come on everything shouldn’t be based on how many facilities or parking garages you can throw up in a years time.

The Crime

Hell that’s ugly wherever you go. Not just here. The rate is atrocious and this was before the recession got as bad as it got. Back in 2002 people were shooting up RTA buses on Halloween for no apparent reason so can’t blame on something as petty as the recession. That’s everyone’s excuse to everything. “My dog got cancer of the eyes because of the recession.” Blah!

I guess I can finish this later. I had a stroke in my arm due to my high blood-pressure a while back and my whole left arm is still sore [it was minor but enough to piss me off]. That’s why I haven’t been online or blogging [not that any one cares or anything]. So yea, I’ll finish this later.

    • You posted this dumb crap in the wrong blog…so take this as a lesson learned when I say this.
What the fuck are you talking about?

Also, I will be removing said comment until you know where to post things. Don’t read one blog about one thing then read another then put your comment in the last blog when you’re questioning the first one you’ve read. Your point will NEVER get across that way.
