I haven’t came across too many people besides myself that’s not having any technical errors with the game. But the launcher and uploading Sims for me can be an issue but its not me its the server so it say.
I can leave the game running, its on the highest settings it can go, there’s no lag no nothing. I got the game before I was able to build my PC by the way. I pre-ordered my game from GameStop, haven’t had any problems worth getting mad over. I’m just grateful that I got lucky enough to get a working copy. So my thing is this, how many people out there have the game and can actually play it with no problems [that don't have a pirated version of the game]? I’m only asking because I don’t see too many people that can play the game with no problems. I actually feel really bad that they can’t because the game is awesome even though it feels like I’m Photoshopping at times but other than that the game is cool. Hopefully, EA will get a patch for Windows being that Mac has already gotten their patch but some are saying it isn’t working well for them.
Now I would like to get The Sims 2 on my PC, I still enjoy playing that version of the game because they had so many features in that one that they didn’t put in the 3rd one and that kind of made me a bit sad. Like my main one is the services, I can’t work, get my skills up and take care of my garden too. I can’t complain though, there are still other awesome features that I enjoy, like …um…hell I’ll get back to you on that.
I truly hope before June of 2009 is over with that EA will come through with an unflawed patch for these paying customers who so patiently/impatiently waited for this game after it was pushed back just to receive The Sims 3 to be treated as a game of Russian Roulette. I’m just glad the barrel of the gun was empty when I pulled the trigger.

I don’t know what’s wrong with my sims3 game. When I first bought it, it worked fine. But then I had trouble starting it, and when my mother (she’s the computer know-it-all, unlike myself… hah) tried wiping the computer and re-updating everything, but it still won’t play?!
It won’t even acknowledge that there’s a cd in drive F.
Any suggestions???
I’ve had snow days for a week with nothing to do… I’d really like to have something to occupy my time.

The CD Driver have probably been uninstalled. You might have to reinstall them.

Sims 3 is structured in a way that lag is inevitable, especially world adventures. My pc is running 8gb ram / 2gb nvidia ddr3 / 2tb hd / i7 cpu. The point is, its not about the hardware, its Sims 3 itself that is written in a bad programming structure. You can even make a powerful server cry by installing Sims 3 onto it.
Sims is a great game especially sims 2. I have no idea what happened to Sims3, maybe a change of management and people who develop the game that make it so horrible. Glad there is such a thing as bit torrent because it seriously aint worth that amount of money.

I was sooo pumped to have finally purchased my first Sims game EVER lol (Sims 3)….then once the download had completed, the problems began. First, in the opening (as it zooms in on your town) the town would appear to be missing buildings (obvious as the buildings were greyed out- a graphical error.) My roomie advised I clean the disc, so I did, and the glitch was gone– I could see every building!
Then, when I went to create my first sim, the skin and clothing appear completely black (void of bodily content)…I pressed save, just to see what it would look like in the game, and though I had selected a hairstyle, my sim appeared bald (bummer)! Next, my sim would never walk, run or move at all once i was in game mode, my roof disappeared, I can’t see inside the home (though I can see my sim in there through the window.) And I’m worried that even if I return the game, getting a new one would only reveal the same issues…what do you suggest I do– I REALLY just want to play- can’t you dig it?!

Your graphics card isn’t loading the graphics basically. Have you installed the lastest drives for your card? What kind of graphics card is it? There are a list of graphic cards that aren’t compatible for The Sims 3.

Its not the size of the hard drive its what kind of computer you have. 9 times out of 10 you’re probably just going to have to get a new laptop/desktop computer.

Hey um. I know what you mean. I had a fearly new computer with the sims2 and lots of extenions and it ran smoothly on my computer it was perfect so I figured that once I got sims3 it would do the same. I assumed wrong I guess. Damn computers go out of date fast now days. My sims3 installed on the computer but when I tried to play it a message popped up on the screen saying “Unable to start game. Device 0 cannot run this title. Your video card does not appear to support at least shader model 2. Please upgrade your card”. In other words, I need to upgrade my video card anf probably get more ram. Its probably gonna cost me alot of money so this game better be worth it! I installed the game on my lap top just to see what would happen and it worked although the graphics are really crap. So I’d rather have it running well I on my big computer. Please contact me if you know anything about upgrading video cards ect

No issues at all. I think a lot of it has to do with crap PCs. The system requirements are only what “is required” to get the game on… not to run smoothly. People need to remember that.
I think it sucks, but for the most part if you want your game to run smoothly your PC is going to have to be pretty damn up to par.
I had tons of issues like this with the sims 1, when I bought my 1st rig I had the geek at best buy tell me it would run the game flawlessly (back in the sims 1 days), and he was dead wrong. So dont ever take the advice with the teen kids at best buy.
At any rate, my dell xps 630 runs ts3 flawlessly, no skips, no bumps, and its why I so highly recommend this rig.
I think EA needs to adjust those system settings they have on the box, because I know how upsetting it can be to finally get the one game you have been waiting for, only to discover your PC is not rough enough to handle it. It sucks. I personally bought the system I have now for this game. Yes, Im that much of a sim freak. I know Im not the only one, so itd really blow to discover that your 2mo old pc is not up to standard. Really sucks.

Just because you asked, I actually have no problems with Sim 3 at all and run it on max settings. However, I built this system myself (2.5Ghz dual-core CPU, 4 GB RAM, 512 MB video) last February to make sure it could handle most anything I threw at it. Just for comparison’s sake, on speed 3 or 4 it runs about 7 seconds/Sim hour. So 8 hours sleeping takes just under one RL minute for me. That appears to be the speed the game was designed for so I think I’m running as well as it is going to.
On the flip side, I just built my wife a new system about a week before Sims 3 launched. It isn’t a top of the line system or anything like that…in fact, I went kinda cheap on it. However, everything meets or exceeds the Sims 3 requirements…I made sure of that.
With her system, 1 second = about 1 Sim minute. So 1 RL minute = 1 Sim hour. That is definitely a lot slower than my system. She also has to kick her settings down to Medium or Low. The trick I showed her when all sims are sleeping is to zoom into the grass. The video card doesn’t have to work as hard with unmoving grass. Use speed 4 so you know when they’re done sleeping and then zoom back out.
So is anyone NOT having a problem with Sims 3? Yes. However, I can’t say that about all of the systems in my house and I admit that I am probably in the minority.
I hope EA finds a solution to everyone’s problems so everyone else can enjoy this game as much as I have. Good luck to you all and happy Simming

I have a really new computer (about two months old), all the system requirements are well above the minimum requirements but the Sims 3 is really slow.
It will take atleast 10 minutes for the sims to sleep, 8 minutes to save atleast, the game stutters and it is really winding me up.
I hope there is a patch soon but I am relieved that it isn’t just me who is having problems.

i have no issues..
wanna know why?
because the crappy “Game Crazy” (i never even heard of Game Crazy that should’ve been a sign to me) store i went to wont give me my god damn game.
now they are telling me to wait until Tuesday or Monday. i swear if i don’t get it.. by then..
THERE WILL be gasoline
and fire
and news reports of a 17 year old girl out of Queens, NY blowing up a game store because she didn’t get a game she pre-ordered more than 2 weeks ago.
i think they are f#$%ing with me because I’m a girl. if they didn’t have my $10 and i wasn’t lazy i would’ve took my ass to Gamestop.
Lee
June 14, 2009
Well, um its in their name, they’re crazy. Do you know why its taking them so long to give you your game? I suggest that be the last time you shop there, Gamestop isn’t the best but they sure isn’t crazy and they will give you your game because if you pre-ordered it or reserved a copy, they can’t run out on the game if they do they will still have copies there for people who reserved or pre-ordered it. Maybe they don’t have any more copies at Game Crazy. I know one thing I feel your frustration though, that’s just unacceptable what they’re doing..

June 14, 2009
yeah i pre-ordered the collectors edition from them. then they tried to tell me that they called me and if somebody doesnt come pick up their game they sell it. its BS because my phone is with me 24/7 and when i called on june 2nd they said since i pre-ordered late i have to wait for the second shipment to come in… and im like how long does that crap take geez. every time i would call they would tell me to wait until the end of the week for for another tuesday or something.
on thursday i got fed up and went to the store and the silly manager told one of the workers to go pick up a CE from another 1 of their stores and that it will be there in like 45mins but i had to go back to school.
i came after school and the dumazz said “he didn’t know who they told him to go get it for” WTF?
they called me an hour later and told me they ordered it again with some type of rush delivery and it should be there Mon or Tues.
i am never going there ever again idk what possessed me. This is the longest i’ve ever had to wait to play a sims.. except for sims 2 which i had to get a new comp for but didn’t take as long as this!!
its pathetic how im already drawing floor plans for my house in the game and bookmarking custom content for when i get it lol -________-

June 14, 2009
Lol, I was doing the same thing before I had got the game as well, I already had the names for my Sims and everything. Anyway, yea Gamestop will keep your game for like ever. Especially if you reserved it or pre-ordered it. I remember one of the guys here told me they still have a playstation 2 in the store on reserve that someone never picked up and you know how long a Playstation 2 came out.

Well you all are lucky to have a couple of months pc.
My pc is about two years old and she can play sims 3 without trouble although with lowest graphic settings with only ‘reflection’ opt enabled. Still has some lag too, but nevertheless, i’m able to play it without any crashing luckily. ^.^

I had problems at first too. It kept crashing after playing it for exactly 44 minutes, and when I checked at some video driver’s manufacturer’s website if mine was in need of an update, it kept saying no. So finally I did what you told us to do in your last posts, with th dxdiag and then checking the date on it & stuff. So it turned out my last update was in 2004! I updated it just the way you said and now it works perfectly fine (little slow but ah well).
So, thank you!

Hey, So, i kinda felt the same…my pc is about 6 months old, with barely anything on the hard drive so plenty of memory etc…it has a decent graphics card but nothing to shout about, so ive so far been quite surprised ive had NO issues whatsoever either! Quite refreshing, but i feel bad for those with so many problems…saying that, i have uninstalled sims 2 which might explain the decent gameplay, could be another story with ALL those expansion packs loaded too…. lol
So far the only bug ive encountered in Sims interacting with objects, like standing with one leg in the stairs etc…which causes me no issues…so so far, so good
