The Sims 3 Team worked very hard to make your Sims 3 experience as enjoyable and defect-free as possible. Due to the size and complexity of a game like The Sims 3, and due to our flawed, mortal forms, [at least they're honest]it is possible that you are still experiencing some problems as you play Sims 3. We wish to provide our dedicated fans with a simple method to report any problems you may encounter. Our intention is to identify and fix as many issues as possible in game updates [No telling when this will be.]. If you run into something you believe to be a defect, you can help the entire community by spending a couple minutes to provide us some information about what you are experiencing. The better the description of the problem, the more likely we will be able to identify, and address, your issue in a game update.
1) A detailed description of the problem is required.
2) If the problem you encounter can be triggered commonly, or at will, some basic steps outlining the method of reproduction are greatly appreciated.
3) If the problem is a crash, game performance, or graphical in nature, attaching your DXDiag or System Profile to your email will help us diagnose the problem. See the end of the post for a description of how to generate your DXDiag (PC) or System Profile. (Mac)
4) If you are experiencing a visual problem, a screenshot or short, in-game movie can’t hurt.As much as we love to hear compliments about all of our hard work, please try to keep the email sent to this address on topic. [What about hearing negative statements about your work?] We will make sure to review the forums if our egos need love [HUH?!!?]. Inquiries outside of gameplay (i.e. installation difficulties, copy protection, store purchases, and website) should be directed to customer support rather than this email address.
For the time being, we have set up an email address where you can send your reports. mailto:TS3TechHelp@ea.com At some point in the future, this email address will be replaced by a web submission form. There will be warning on the official The Sims 3 forums before the email address is deactivated.
Unfortunately, due to the limited number of hours in the day, it is unlikely that you will receive a human response to your email report. Don’t fear. As long as the email address is not being heavily abused [Hell they should not just be abused but RAPED! People have been bamboozled! Where the hell is Ashton Kutcher?], we will review all bug reports and will be working diligently to fix the most prevalent and problematic issues. [THAT DEFEATS THE WHOLE PURPOSE IN SENDING AN E-MAIL!!!]
While we hope you never need to use this address, please know that it is here if it is needed.
System Information Instructions:
Windows PC:
1) Click the “Start” menu.
2) Click “Run.”
3) Type “dxdiag” at the prompt.
4) Click the “Save All Information…” button.
5) Save the info off to a file and attach it to your composed email.Mac OS:
1) Click on the Apple Menu.
2) Select “About this Mac.”
3) Select “More Info…”
4) Under View select “Mini Profile.”
5) Under File select “Save As…” and save the information out in RTF. (Rich Text Format) Attach this file to your email.Soft Crashes:
If your game is crashing to desktop, the game will attempt to place crash dump files in your \My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ directory. There will be two files, a .mdmp and .txt file that are time stamped at the point the game crashed. If these files have been created, then attaching these files to your description of what was going on in game will help us.
Hard Crashes:
The first thing you should do if you are experiencing ingame crashes or graphical issues is update your drivers. (video card drivers most importantly) Depending on your video card manufacturer, you can find drivers at:
NVidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
ATI: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
Intel: http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htmIf you already have updated your drivers and are still experiencing blue screens or reboots while playing The Sims 3, you will find time-stamped crash dumps in \WINDOWS\Minidump\. Attaching these to your email along with your DXDiag will be helpful.
Bold means I was laughing.
[Statements like these are just my thoughts about what's being said].
Not only does the game needs fixing but the site links that was with the game to register and to get that car, those site links on thesims3.com were/are broken. How stupid was that? Who half-assed did that site?

my parents have recently bought me the sims 3 pets, i was so exicited i decided to download it on my laptop straight away ( my laptop is a hp with windows 7). i finally downloaded the game and i started to play on it. i played on it for about 2 hours then i saved it and shut down my laptop. the next day in the morning i went on it again – fine. but during around 5:00 when i had downloaded the game the night before i found that it started crashing and it would take sometime to do something and then the screen would go blue and have writing on it telling such and such, this has happened all the time now, it only happens when i click on the icon to save my game, so i cant save my game and save all the work i have done. the blue screen doesnt do anything and doesnt say anything what i can do i have to switch of my laptop by holding the button. i want to know what can be done about this since i love the game dearly.
what are you going to do to help me ?

Hey, I recently got the Sims 3 game, on a HP mini. Because the screen in too big when I bring up the game and try to make the screen smaller, the tick button can’t be seen along with any other icons at the top. I don’t know if this can be solved, but is there a button on the keyboard that can simply confirm my changed options?

I was excited to get the sims 3 and when I tried to install the game I had problems where it wouldn’t read the disc, I got that working and installed the game, but then it would crash in buy mode. So I turned off my anti virus, deleted all the extra’s I downloaded, and reinstalled the game, now the buy mode works, but it crashes when I go to the create a sim mode. My computer meets all the requirements, I don’t know what to do…..

Hello, I just bought sims 3 deluxe for pc. I play it on a gateway laptop. I have the main game installed but have yet to install the ambitions disk it came with. I played the game two days (taking long breaks of course), and all of a sudden when i play for maybe and hour, not only does the game turn off, my entire laptop shuts off immediately with a not so nice click sound. I have to start up the computer again to play. To test if it was the game, I have been on the internet for over an hour and nothing goes wrong, but when I attempt playing Sims 3, the laptop crashes within an hour of play. There are NO specific reasons or things i do in the game or anything. It occurs whenever, whatever I’m doing, just shuts off. I do recall getting an update from EA to the game? That may be the issue. Please PLEASE help, i love this game I just wanna play what I paid for. Thank you very much.

Please help me! Ok, so I have vista and when I’m making a family on the Sims 3 it just crashes to the desktop. I’ve searched online and some people say to just delete all your downloads (mods) but I like some of them and I don’t want to delte them all. Please help, Sims is my life.
LOL jk, not my life, but still pretty important.
Thanks!
Lee

How are you going to ask for my help if you’re not going to listen? I’m only asking because the mods are in fact the problem. Delete them and your game will probably won’t crash. Most if not all of them are incompatible with the game at this point. You might want to wait before reinstalling mods.

Sam is retarded, I’ve played this game and many games on Vista and it was so damn buggy I had to convert back to XP. JUST BECAUSE YOUR version of Shit-sta is not giving your game problems doesn’t mean the same rule applies to everyone else. Maybe you should come with more facts instead of being so taken aback that Asilee said that its the OS which in fact IS. She did the process of elimination and it all dwindled down to the OS, the problems that guy had could NOT be caused by a graphics card. His specifics for his computer can run The Sims 3 with no problems, except for the fact he is running it on Vista. Again Sam, you’re retarded and next time you come here have opinions based on facts or just don’t comment at all.

I know right? Don’t you just hate it when someone with this holier than thou attitude thinking they know everything? If he comments any more, they’ll be marked as spam and they won’t get through because that’s all he’s doing is being a self-centered twat.

I have been playing sims 3, and most recently the world adventures expansion pack, since they was released. everything was fine until today because, no idea why, it started crushing to desktop. I have made no actualizations on the leopard and no actualizations on the sims 3 so I don’t find any explanation for what is happening…

Tried the EA help crap for a few months now and the idiots on EA help aren’t helping which is why i turn to smart people like you! So the patch (according to the guy I emailed@EA) corrupts the game files….hmm…really? How does it do that? And I thought updates were to help the game not hurt it.

I am also getting the random graphics like Amber is. And it seems they are coming from things in the houses. for example: a book shelf. And they stay there and I have to always try to restart the game. But it just comes back every time. This started after I did an update thing on the game.
What should I do?
Lee
January 6, 2010
I don’t know exactly what she meant by random flashing graphics. Can you be more thorough than her so I can actually try and help?
What exactly do you mean by a book shelf? You mean to tell me it flashes on your screen and then get stuck there? Is there a way you can take a snapshot of it and upload the image and send me the link so I can see what it is that you’re seeing? If not never mind.

Do you see the Mirror? What is that above it? and it gets worst. More objects will do it. And then its so bad I cant see anything. IT didn’t do this before I did the patch/update. And I have no clue how to stop this.
Lee
January 10, 2010
Knowing that it didn’t do this until the patch, you should uninstall then reinstall the game and start fresh without the patches. If anything, that looks like its your graphics card doing that.

I’m having a ton of problems with this game and it’s expansion, but here are the most annoying and trouble some.
problem 1: every time I try to start the game from it’s short cut it says “sims3launcher is not working”. this didn’t happen until after I installed the expansion. It takes about 5-6 tries before I can finally play the game.
problem 2: I now have little black squares where buildings should be in the communities, even the foreign ones.
problem 3: It now says “error: cannot connect to the EA download manager”
If you know why or any way to fix these problem please let me know. I’ve tried everything I could think of and nothings worked

I was so excited to get the new expansion pack loaded,
i only seemed to have crashing proplems after i installed it.
i could load up “create-a-sim” and then all the new features to the game just made my computer screan go black and say, power saving mode.
i couldnt do anything about from reboot my computer,
its making me so annoyed that i even considerd giving sims up but i just cant and its really annoying that it keeps crashing at certain new features!!!!!

That sounds like your graphics card is the problem.

When playing the sims 3 (and i have no expansion packs and have not downloaded any extras apart from the ea updates) my computer is crashing after 5 mins max of game play and shutting my entire computer down! I spoke to ea who told me to delete my temp files because it shouldnt be the graphics card because between oct and jan the game was running fine with no problems at all!! i deleted the temp files, manually unistalled the game, re booted the computer, tried playing it in window mode (to see if there were any error messages in the background – which there were not) and the game still continued to crash.. so I am confused as to why this might be the graphics card?
Lee
February 22, 2010
Its not your graphics card. What kind of computer do you have? What are the specs?
Hez
February 22, 2010
windows vista brand new! and im not sure what the spec is would have to ask my other half, but it was working fine before!
Lee
February 22, 2010
Well having Vista as an OS is enough to make a game crash and or restart your computer completely. Another reason for a computer to complete restart is if you have a low wattage power supply. Now that I think about it, it could be your graphics card. Depending on how long you play the game, your graphics card be stressing itself to the point your power supply just gives way and restarts the computer. Its call an emergency reboot.
Hez
February 22, 2010
hey Lee – what do you mean by OS? The length of game play is a MAX od 5 minutes. But why would it only start having problems now when it played fine between October and Jan?
Lee
February 22, 2010
Operating System. Also because Vista is temperamental like that. It could be other reasons as well but its hard to determine when I don’t know the stats.
Hez
February 22, 2010
do u know how i can find out the stats?
Lee
February 22, 2010
By running a DXDiag. I don’t have Vista so I don’t know how you would bring up ‘Run’ but if you know, bring up Run and type in ‘DXDiag’ and under the System tab all you need to know about you computer is there. Click ‘Save All information’ at the bottom of that window and it should give you a option to save it where you want to save it, when it saves it will save as a Wordpad/Notepad document, open that up and copy and paste the system information in a comment on here. All you need is whats under system information.
I don’t even know if that is going to work being that its Vista and all but its worth a shot.

You should be able to run the game just fine on Low to Medium graphical settings. I must ask, are you running anything else in the background while playing the game? I also tried to log into my Sims 3 account today, that i created when i first bought the game when it came out. When i went to log in it wanted me to register my name, but I have already done that.

Uhm…I got Sims 3 to work up until I press the play button in live mode. Build and buy mode both work perfectly, no glitches after I configured the game. I have a problem… when i first got sims 3 i had been waiting for ages. I got a new dell for my birthday so i expected it to be fine and i think it is? So i put the disk in the drive and nothing happened. I tried it two or three times then it worked, so i installed it and played on it. Then I quit then the next day i tried it again and the same thing happened, it didnt work for ages so i did other stuff on my laptop then suddenly it worked. So we took it back to the shop to get a new disk and we got it, and the same thing happens. It does work but not when I want it to and not very often. Help?!?!

Hello.
I am a huge Sims fan, and I too have been so excited about the game. But, I am a bit disappointed…
I will be playing the game and the screen will pause and black out, then come back on. But, this happens often which gets irritating. (of course)
Also- When I buy items or move them around, the little green square that’s under the furniture… (you know what i’m talking about, it helps you place your object where you want it?) it has a green or red beam that’s shooting from it. It’s odd…
Then, when I turn the game off, I have a little caution message that says display igx has stopped working. But after a few seconds, it has repaired itself. Any idea?
(sorry this is so long…wanted to be detailed)

i have an issue!!
So my Sim just had a baby girl who grew into a toddler(toddlers name is Jane), and she had just finished teaching Jane how to talk. they are both still sitting down, the mother frozen in place, and Jane doing some sort of looping thing (still acting like shes learning how to talk).
Other info…the mother has a husband and another toddler. . Any idea how to fix this?

Try using the resetsim cheat. That works with a lot of these issues concerning the sims getting stuck or can’t do a task.

I just bought the Sims 3 today. Downloading was fine but when time to play, I was missing shader model 2. I had just bought a graphics card last month in order to run Sim 1 and 2. Now the game suggest that I purchase another graphics card. I cannot purchase another one. I bought the new card for $100.00 and was told that it should run sims 3 but now that I have owned the graphic card over the 30 day mark can not return. I just don’t see myself paying another $100.00 for a graphic card just to play one game. So sad!!

I hate automatic responses… they’re so cheerful. when i’m seriously mad at the sims 3 because their game has problems, i do not like hearing ‘i’m sorry, please attach your dxdiag files’, ‘i’m sorry, your game specs aren’t good enough’, or ‘your request has been recieved. have a nice day!’ strange though it may seem, it would be much better if they would say ‘we’ll try to fix your problem, but we’re lazy so we’ll just fix the ‘prevalent’ probems. have a horrible nasty day’.

Yea, then there would be so many people with something else to be mad at EA about.

Look in your inventory in the Edit Town section and see if she is in there, I believe thats where they go when they have been told to move out. Or being that the game is full of glitches, errors and bugs, the game might of deleted her. See if you can find her in Edit Town.

Okay, I’ve got a problem. When I installed it, everything went fine. It was fast, all that good stuff. The problem was when I tried to PLAY it.
This little thing pops up telling me there’s some sort of launching error. So, uh — help?

The game wasn’t installed right, its not your fault its the games and EA’s fault. Where did you get the game from?

I was very disopointed in the sims 3 and thought it was alot like the sims unlished. The sims 2 had alot better picture and if both were combined than it would make the perfect sims 4.

I understand your frustration. People have been waiting on that patch since Tuesday. They had promised a ‘same day patch’ for everyone who were having problems and all they could do was post up the specifics about the patch. No where to download it or anything.
