You'll have to download the mods to get them to look how you want them to look. If you don't have the mods that came with the Sims you downloaded they will all have that same brown hair. It looked cool.. And I installed it and everything, then I went to the Sims 3 website to try and find more real looking sims (as I did for the Sims 2). I found some, installed it, and went on the game. And you know what!? The sims did not look the ones I downloaded.. They all had the same brown hair and different clothing. I was getting really pissed off, and when I just made some random character and started to play the game. IT SUCKED! I did all that about 2o minutes ago and I am already tired of the stupid game... So, I installed update 1.8 back on December 15th and it completely destroyed my game. Wouldn't go past load screen. Despite several emails/tweets to EA, I got no response whatsoever. I downloaded 1.9 when it came out and the same. So I've been completely Sims free for two months...until today. The simple (ha!) solution? Complete system reinstal on my laptop. Yup - had to store all my music and photos etc on an external harddrive and then proceed to completely wipe my laptop and reinstall Windows. So I have it in the state that it was when I bought it only 9 months ago - but I have the Sims working again. Drastic...but it was the only way. And I have Vista. Although Sims 2 may work fine, Sims 3 may be a different story. Being that you have Vista which isn't the preferred OS to play games on because of errors, and issues like this, you may have to do a test on someone else computer that's not running Vista and see if it'll run.
