The Sims 3 game of course has been like a game of Russian Roulette today. The game is having Authorization code issues, there are even glitches with in the game, the site is not loading some if not most of the pages. A lot of people cannot download their free content from TheSims3.com with their codes they got with the The Sims 3 Collectors Edition. Then there are those who aren’t having problems at all. People are becoming a bit skeptical, hell I am too and that’s because I haven’t installed mine yet because my computer parts do not come until tomorrow which is in 25 minutes.
If you’re getting a ‘Disc Authorization Error’, click here.
Some people are having problems because they decided to buy the game without looking at the system requirements first; they’re getting blocky people, letters, environments etc etc. Other people are having problems installing the game because there is this Authorization error going around… its either ‘disc authentication failure’ or its ‘make sure the disc is in the drive’ then there are people getting a authentic error basically saying the copy they are using isn’t authentic. The glitches well…
- The cheapest shower’s arrow ‘faces’ the wrong direction, It’s supposed to point where you enter from but is on the wrong side.
This makes it annoying while building a small house. I didn’t pay a maid $125, so he went to steal a chair.
BUT now the chair is “attached” with the desk… and on the desk was a laptop…
I owed him $125 and he took over $5500 worth…
Maybe that’s a glitch, maybe it isn’t. As far as downloading anything from the site, well it could work or not. Some people get to downloading their items and it lags, freezes or just stops. Speaking of which, people games are crashing a lot as well, the game will crash while creating a Sim in the Create-a-Sim area. Hopefully there will be a patch for this game really soon. I know there are a lot of mad and angry Sim fans out there. Also there are people who are having trouble viewing their Sims in the community lots. Maybe its their computer, maybe its the game but being that this is EA we’re talking about who knows? Even some people received their Sims 3 Collectors Edition and didn’t get their Carabiner. It comes with the The Sims 3 Collectors Edition by the way, I should know. Some now are missing roofs to their houses, the Sims are even bald.
In other news, ModTheSims.com has started on making mods for the The Sims 3 games. Feel free to click the link and see for yourself. From my understanding, these downloads from that site are free so you won’t need any Sim Points.
If you are having problems you can go here and submit your problems in the forum. I haven’t been able to see the forums since this morning and that was around 5 A.M.. You must be a registered user meaning, your game has to be registered to post topics or replies. If you would like to see if your computer can run The Sims 3 game you can go to Can You Run It?. If you don’t know it by that name but by another, its also called EA System Requirements Lab.
I just tried the forums again and now I can finally get into the forums after I’ve been waiting all day. Then again, I was able to get into them before the http 404 error earlier but the forums was just showing raw CSS when I selected ‘reply’.
Anyway, here are the minimum specifications to run The Sims 3 game.

As far as Patches go, people on TheSims3.com are making online petitions to recieve them faster because it hasn’t been 24 hours and the game is really messed up for a lot of folks.
Also people who don’t read, if you’re trying to install a DVD-ROM game with a PC-ROM then you deserve not to play the game, as well as those who decided to get the game knowing they have a Celeron Processor Dell Dimension 3000.
I will update if anything new happens until then, those who are glitch free HAPPY SIMMING!
Note:
Those who feel they aren’t getting the answers they need, feel free to contact Customer Support here.
Some Suggestions:
I don’t know if this would work but I heard if you’re getting an error about the game being fake, try installing it offline. Disconnect from your internet then install it. If there is some reason to why you can’t install while you’re offline then EA is more fail than I thought.
Try Deleting programs you aren’t using if you’re getting an Authorization error. If you have EA games on your computer that you did not buy and you have cracks, patches, hacks for them, that can mess with an legit game. I don’t know how true that is but someone told me after they deleted their games they illegally got, the game started working. That may not be the case for everyone though cause everyone probably don’t have pirated games on their PC or anything else stolen, cracked or patched. Or then it could just be the disc that its on.

Also, it has come to my attention that if you use Windows XP 64bit that you are likely to come across some issues being that there are a lot of things that cannot be ran on 64bit or it at least give people problems. So take that into consideration if you’re using Windows XP 64bit.

Whenever I make my sims some come out normal but others aren’t aligned. Their hip will be off to the right and their rings are floating in the air? I know I checked the requirements before I bought the game and my computer is definitely built to handle it. Is anyone else seeing this?
Lee
June 7, 2009
There are in fact a lot of others who are getting this same glitch. There will be a patch for that soon because it can’t be someone’s computer or graphics card that’s causing this.

Hi Lee,
I’m a mac user and have just gotten the game today. When starting the game I received this message,
” Unhandled page fault on read access to 0×00000000 at address 0x100d858a. Do you wish to debug it?”
Nothing happens when I select either ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ to debug.
And the game will not launch. Do you know what is going on?
Thanks.
Lee
June 7, 2009
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game after you restart your computer. For some reason your debugger isn’t working.

Has anyone had the problem of the PC rebooting after the intro vid when the game is loading? I have had a case open with EA trying to resolve it but they dont seem to be helping. Any ideas? My PC blows away the min requirments and all other games work perfectly?

After Reloading my pc with Windows XP instead of Vista x64 I finally got past the loading screen. NOW when I try and enter a town it will sometimes reboot my machine, the furthest Ive gotten into the game is where the loading screen for entering a home reboots my PC…. UGH!!!!!! Any Ideas? Anyone Else having this exact Issue???

June 9, 2009
Which XP bit are you using?
Corey
June 9, 2009
RESOLVED ISSUE BY UPGRADING MY VISTA ENT.x64 TO XP Pro and entering the dxdiag and adjusting the sound acceleration to basic. This solved my rebooting issue. FYI: Turning down the sound acceleration with Vista is NOT Supported and cannot be adjusted per Windows.
Thanks everyone for all your advice!!

So
Does anyone else have the same problem of not being able to make fat sims??
Like when creating the sim and you toggle the bars; the sims arms move as if they get fat but they dont actually get fat??
And then whilst playing the game they appear to be severely disfigured?
Lee
June 7, 2009
Yes there are a lot of others having that same problem.

I am having the same problem with some of the cheats that don’t work like make happy and the speed up time buttons do nothing at all. I have to manualy wait for the sim to sleep and wake up. It takes like 5 minutes wow lol.

June 7, 2009
I wonder why everyone is having that speed problem…there will be a patch from EA soon enough, hopefully.

My game just crashed and when I went back in to reload my save… Nothing… It will not load any of my saves neither will it let me choose between the two towns.
Lee
June 7, 2009
Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Or have you tried that? Did you get any errors when it crashed or it just crashed with no type of warning or message?
Erin
June 6, 2009
Has anyone else noticed that when you change the speed it doesnt ever really speed up? And when it does slightly speed up, the speed that it goes fluctuates. It makes playing with limited time frame frustrating. I originally downloaded it before it released but once it came out i actually uninstalled and bought the full version and it had the same issue with both. I dont know if it’s just me or what.
Lee
June 7, 2009
That’s just how the game is unless its not really a bug and the speed is slower than in The Sims 2. But mine as I recall the speed is just like in The Sims 2. Its pretty fast.
aaron
June 8, 2009
yea it doesnt speed up at all but it sounds like hes going faster but moving st the same speed. And i cant make fat people body shaper doesnt work!!!

June 6, 2009
The game worked perfectly for a few days, but now when I try to load a saved game it gets stuck after loading only half way. Then the whole program closes itself without a warning or error message and my screen resolution settings are changed to 800×600.
Lee
June 6, 2009
Have you done anything differently before that happened?
NiC
June 6, 2009
Actually I had gotten an error message from windows about needing to update my graphics card driver. I am using windows XP and have a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 video card installed. I uninstalled the nvidia driver and reinstalled it and now I’m having problems with my sims.

June 7, 2009
Update: I finally got my game to load but it was running kind of slow. It seemed to be lagging. I did the system requirements check on the EA website and it said my PC exceeded the required specs. Then after playing for about 10 minutes the game just closed all by itself.
Lee
June 7, 2009
Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game and see if that helps. We have the same graphics card and my Sims game isn’t giving me any problems what so ever. Except the fact you can’t upload anything .mb to thesims3.com site.

You can still hear the sims talking and the game going in the background but you cant play, it completely freezes the computer.
Only way i have is by restarting.

One of my sims is bald!!!
I put in the hair, and the first family I made became a huge clan of baldies despite it. Next family I made, just the adults were bald – kids were fine. Makes them very unattractive, I must say.

Yes and after awhile looking at their bald-ness can get a bit of annoying as well.

Has anyone gotten the issue where you’ve been playing the game for a while and then it suddenly gets all pixelated like the whole screen looks like it is spasming and then it goes black and turns back on like it’s normal. It just happened and this time my whole PC wouldn’t work except I still heard the sims talking and everything but the screen wouldn’t change and it was still pixilated. So I had to turn off my PC right after I removed The Sims 3 disc.

help me lee how i fix this roofs problem i downloaded the game but thats doesnt means i deserve issues plz help ur forum is the only solution so far plz
Lee
June 5, 2009
It has to be something with how the game was written. Something went wrong when it was either downloaded or installed wrong. It could be that or the fact that maybe your graphics card is a bit messed up. Have you tried doing everything imaginable to get it to work?
By the way, did you buy the game [disc] or downloaded it?

June 5, 2009
does anyone know of any place where you can download cc like houses or furniture? because the furniture and houses included with the game, are lame. and sorry to hear about yer guy’s problems, i downloaded the leaked version and i’m having no problems, works better then the sims 2 did.

I don’t understand mine. It says Ati2dvag had to shut down and the whole screen is in 256 color mode and everything is HUGE(graphics). Sims stops responding and I have to reboot(hard shut down) my computer. First time it happened my computer ran a disk check and didn’t come up with anything. Second time it just restarted when I shut down. But the third time I went in to play my computer shut down and restarted on it’s own.
It didn’t do this when I made my first character, and I played her for 12 or so hours. But, when I went to make a companion for her, it let’s me select gender and how their body looks but when I go to change the hair or anything else it crashes. I’ve checked for updates for my driver, but it says that it’s all up to date. Plus, I play World of Warcraft and never shut down. *shrug* Waste of 70$, if I can’t play.
I have Windows XP Media Center Edition
and ATI Radeon X300 graphics
and I know for a fact I have more than enough Memory to run the game.
Meh.

Did you download the game or did you buy the game from a store?

I bought the game. Had it on pre-order since the pre-order came out.

New issue with mine. Since I shut down last night and logged back on. Now when I click on the Sims 3 icon and it pulls up the game launcher, it blows everything up on the screen. Can’t even see the full game launcher it’s so big. O.O How did I get a new glitch? The start menu is 2 inches long for cripes sake. Annoying. I think I’ll just uninstall the game and try to reinstall and see if that fixes something.
Did that stupid little test on The Sims 3 site to see if my computer was good enough and it said my system exceeds requirements.
Lee
June 5, 2009
Try to go to Properties > Settings and change your resolution. Sometimes graphics cards/Video Games make people resolution settings change.
That’s your best bet to uninstall then reinstall the game and see if that helps. When you reinstall it, restart your CPU. Also try installing the game offline. I heard that helps as well. Don’t know how or why but try that.

Relly disappointed with this after all the hype! Terrible problems getting it to run in the first place (legit purchased disc, not a download).
When running it was really slow and roofs are not working!!
Having downloaded the free neighbourhood from the website it is not working at all now!!
This is sooo frustrating…please sort it out EA!!

Ergh. I was trying to make my Sim… chubbier, and yet it stayed skinny no matter what.

That is a new one. Seems like the glitches are getting more outrageous as the days grow older.

I understand your frustration, have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the game? What are you computer specifications, graphics card specifications?

I just bought my game today, and i put the Cd in and nothing showed up. So i went to my computer and right clicked on the DVD/CD-RW drive and i still cant install it. i dont know whats wrong with it. Should i take the game back and get a new one?
I believe i do reach the requirements for the game, i have more then enough memory but just to make sure I tried checking on the EA site to see if i reach the requirements but it said my browser wasnt supported. So now im clueless. Any ideas?
Lee
June 5, 2009
Your browser isn’t supported? I don’t think that will cause your rom drive not to read the disc. Have you tested to see if any other disc you stick in the drive worked?
Senny
June 5, 2009
Yeah I’ve tested other Cds and they work fine. I put the game back in and went to my start menu and clicked run then put in D:/Autorun. The first time i did it a message popped up asking my to insert a Cd into drive D, so i opened the Cd part and closed it again and the sims 3 finally showed up, but i needed to install it in my other user name so i cancelled the action and logged into the other user name and did the same thing but it wont show up at all even when i open and close the cd part. Ive tried restarting my computer and everything and going back into the user name it originally worked in and still nothng. Do you know any other way i could get my DVD/CD-RW drive to read the Cd?

I want to buy sims but i’m younger than 15 which is when u can get a job so I hav littl money n my parents wouldn’t buy the game for me. i loooooove sims but they don’t like it when the game crashes. im not even allowd 2 play sims 2 anymore because they say its not good 4 the PC. I dont just looove sims, i m CAAAARRRRRAAAAZZZZZZZAYYYYY 4 it!!!!!!!!!!!! I just don’t want to buy a game that doesn’t work or is not fun that is <$50! I don't want to be in debt for a <month if its a bad game. Any suggestions for the best way to make sure the game doesn't crash!?
Lee
June 4, 2009
My best advice is to wait til all the kinks, errors, bugs, glitches have been patched up by EA before getting the game.
Although I was lucky enough to buy the disc and didn’t have any errors there are some faulty discs out there and you may end up with a copy. Also make sure if you’re trying to run the game that you meet the requirements, when you don’t meet the requirements for a game, that can cause your game/computer to crash as well.

Ive been having a serious issue. the disk is in (computer is humming and game is perfectly downloaded) but i press start and it says *Disc authentication Failure*
No game disc Found! Please insert the sims 3 game disk before proceeding*
i even tried the original TS3 file. it still says (on the sims 3 main menu) it says the exact same thing
Lee
June 4, 2009
The place its being downloaded from have faults in it. That’s why people should wait a while before buying the game online. Its basically thinking you have the disc when you in fact downloaded it from the site.
I just hope these errors don’t affect me downloading The Sims 2. I’ve been playing on buying that game again from the site for some time now.
The best thing you can do right now is report your error and see what they say or try and find the Q&A/FaQ page on TheSims3.com.

I was able to play it for about twenty minutes; then I downloaded the free town from EA and everything went to hell. It crashes on loading now, even after I’ve gotten rid of the free town.
Very disappointing. My system is well above the requirements needed to play; clearly there’s a problem with the game itself. Plus, wasn’t very impressed so far with items, etc.
Maybe I’ll just go back to Sims 2.
Lee
June 4, 2009
Yea it seems the big issue people are having are those who downloaded the game. Those who bought the disc, aren’t having that many problems or no problems at all.
EA needs to fix this.

Another glitch….one of my sims gave birth at the hospital and the car was left there. I had to buy another car. lol
Lee
June 4, 2009
I know you were slightly upset about that I’m sure.
Sarah
June 4, 2009
Yeah, there are alot of problems.
It seems the most common are the ones concerning crashes before the game finishes loading and issues controlling time (game does not speed up when higher speed buttons are pressed, or it speeds up while doing everything except sleeping, or it won’t stop speeding while sleeping, and the fourth control absolutely doesn’t work ever) which is one of my issues.
People without problems are the lucky ones.
Lee
June 4, 2009
I wonder why that is? Mine speeds up flawlessly. I’m starting to think that depending on where people got these games from that EA sent all the faulty games to those stores.
That was a wild stab in the dark…lol

I had quite a random glitch today while I was Simming…
I invited a Sim friend over to spend the night, and in the middle of the night when all my Sims were sleeping, my Sim’s friend woke up the toddler and upset him. My adult Sims asked the friend to leave, and while still holding the toddler the friend walked out of the house, got a taxi, and went into a vacant home.
I’m sitting here wondering where she’s taking the toddler, and the toddler is all of a sudden unselectable.
o_O?
I had to evict and move in the family to get the toddler back.
There was -no one- living in the house that the Sim friend took the toddler to.
Lee
June 4, 2009
Could be the Sims traits could be a klepto, insane or a theif…but it could be a glitch as well.
Ellie
June 4, 2009
Ooh but she’s not. I thought she might be, but I had her move in with my family, and she’s none of those o_o she’s even got the ‘good’ trait.
I’m just happy I got the toddler back x3
Lee
June 4, 2009
Yea that was a glitch, I’m glad you got your toddler back too. ^_^

June 4, 2009
The game has very few glitches. It’s far superior to the sims 2…you can actually walk across the street now as you have neighbors and not some ‘stephen king-like MIST’ that obscures all houses on the block except yours. No more blocky bodies or odd joker-like smiles or plastic looking hair.
You WILL be mad at the lack of objects with which to decorate your houses because in both the leaked rtm version and the retail this exists; the retail has no more objects that the one u can dl for free off a torrent everywhere on the internet now. That’s EA lying when they tell you otherwise.
It’s a fun game but def not worth $70. It will be more fun when the modders start doing what they do.
Lee
June 4, 2009
That Stephen King bit was funny because that’s exactly how it looked but as far as the mods, there are a few mods out already and I’m pretty sure there are going to be a lot in the future. I’m looking forward to new decor for my homes. I hope EA get those patches up and running real soon.

Hi, just stumbled across your blog, my game is ‘en route’ apparently and I’m already more than concerned when I get it it won’t live up to expectations…I thought the point of delaying the release date from Feb to June was to sort out glitches such as these! I am software tester but work in the financial services and I know how long it takes to thoroughly test a system…I should hope EA get on these glitches super quick! thanks for your post, interesting to read

I just got the game today. I’m not having any real problems so far. I just hate the fact that I can’t see inside buildings. I guess it will take some getting used to.
Lee
June 4, 2009
Yea, that is kind of weird but there are some buildings you can see inside and interact but maybe when the next Sims game come out they’ll have something better.
Jack Lamarr
June 26, 2009
Are you talking about buildings like the school? Because you’re not supposed to be able to see inside those buildings. EA never designed an interior for them.

One of my sims is bald in the picture around the different actions that you can click, and her hair also turns transparent when I zoom in closer to her..
Also, when I’m in create a sim the sim is entirely black..
Really disappointing =/

I tried to throw a party and the guest wouldn’t leave! They wouldn’t move, I couldn’t ask them to leave. They just stood their until they P**D on themselves and started to get bad hygiene. I’ve seen on a couple of boards people having that same problem.
And this isn’t a glitch but they really should fix the speed up time, its super slow when the Sims are sleeping or at work. Makes the gameplay boring.
Lee
June 3, 2009
For some reason the speed up time works on the demo/pirated version my boyfriend got. That’s really weird.

I have the disc authentication failure. I bought the game yesterday from EB games and i tried it on multiple computers. I’m not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but while I’m creating my Sim, my whole computer shuts down. Not just the game, but EVERYTHING. I’ve tried bringing down the settings to their minimum, and it still happens, even with my computer being well-over the minimum spec requirements.

Its the disc that’s causing these problems. People who are just downloading it from the EA site aren’t having problems at all.

I downloaded the Sims 3 directly from EA games site. Jusing the EA downloade Manager. But I still have the same problems. My computer shuts down after less then 10 minutes.
Are the EA working on a patch that will sort this? I hope so!

The patch for Windows is going to take a while. They had already made a patch addressing some of the issues with Macs already. Hopefully it won’t be much longer before a patch for the windows version come out.

I had the same “Disc Authorization Failure” problem and the Sims 3 Customer Service page had an “answer” but it was completely useless to me as a Mac user. I know for sure I have never downloaded a CD-emulator application, so I was at a loss for what to do. Then I searched my whole Macbook and found that my MS Office 2008 (for macs) had an application called MS Database Daemon under the Entourage application. I deleted that with the help from this website:
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/glossary/daemon.html#dd2
and restarted the game, and that seemed to do the trick.
Lee

One of the glitches I have encounter is that after a while of playing, the sims will desappear. The action continues but the sims are ghosts. If they were reading a book, the book appears floating in mid air and all but where’s my sim? oh It’s a ghost! It’s funny in the begining, but after a while it’s not anymore.
If I save the game after lots of playing, the game doesn’t save. It takes forever telling me it’s saving but it doesn’t. So my advice is, save as often as you can
