This is my first so bare with me. Don’t get comfortable either cause I’m not gone make too many of these. Probably only for the games that I like. Also if you have tips to add on to this guide, please comment and if its sensible, I will add it. It has to be Xbox 360 achievements related. Anyway, moving on to the Xbox 360 Left 4 Dead Achievement Guide…
Helping Hand (20G)
[ Revive 50 incapacitated Survivors. ]

When a Survivor is incapacitated on the ground. Run up to him and hold the X button until they are on their feet. Watch out though, the Infected can cause the Survivor to collapse again and you have to revive him or her over again. For it to count you have to succeed in reviving them 50 times. This achievement is accumulative.
Field Medic (20G)
[ Heal 25 Survivors with a first aid kit. ]

This one is self explanatory. Basically walk up to someone with the first kit handy and press and hold LT. Do this 25 times and you will get the achievement.
Pharm-assist (20G)
[ Give pain pills to 10 Survivors. ]

This one is fairly easy to, its just like the the achievement Field Medic. Except you do it with pain pills. Same rules apply just the amount in times are different.
My Bodyguard (15G)
[ Protect any Survivor from an attacking infected 50 times. ]

Basically when there are Infected around and they are going after other Survivors just stop them in their tracks with a bullet. Do this 50 times and you will get the achievement.
Dead Stop (10G)
[ Punch a Hunter as he is pouncing. ]

This one I did on mistake or it was my reflexes; either one I got the achievement. Any way, a Hunter has to charge up and he usually growls when he is charging up, he charges up to pounce. Its best that you have great timing with this one. Just wait for that moment and just use “melee” or LT.
Cr0wned (30G)
[ Kill a witch with a single head-shot. ]

Okay, this is a very easy achievement. Either find a Shotgun preferably an auto one, sneak up behind the Witch and blow her brains out or aim for her neck. OR! Find a Rifle if it isn’t already equipped and take the head shot that way. It has to be her head or neck to get this achievement. Also try to live cause if you miss she will come after you and claw you damn there to hell.
![]()
Untouchables (30G)
[ No survivors take damage after contracting the rescue vehicle. ]

Ah yes my favorite achievement that I have yet to equip. From what I’ve heard and read, the best way to do this one on is the Death Toll Campaign Chapter 4: Boathouse Finale. Go to the dock, jump on the rocks. Apparently if you jump on the rocks the Infected have a hard time getting up there after you. Make sure you and your other survivors are up there. Do this immediately after you call for help.
Drag and Drop (20G)
[ Rescue a survivor from a Smoker's tongue before he/she takes damage. ]

Always stay with your teammates. That’s the best time to catch a Smoker when its about to attack. If he isn’t up high and is down below with you, run up to him and melee his ass. Eh, you can always shoot him too but where’s the fun in that?
Blind Luck (20G)
[ You or another survivor don't take no damage after being vomited on by a Boomer. ]

This is yet another easy one, I got this when I first played the game. Basically if you just so happened to get vomited on, its best that you have a pipe bomb ready. Right when the Horde is bound to strike, throw it. The others that are around, just waste them, it shouldn’t be many. Its best that you are in a corner with no windows or doors so there aren’t any surprises.
Akimbo Assassin (30G)
[ Survive an entire campaign using only pistols. ]

I have yet to do this one, I often forget about this achievement til last minute. The best way I believe when it comes to doing this achievement is to not pick up any new weapons. Just manage with the pistols. Its best you have two, you’ll probably get mauled with just one. Believe me …I tried. Picking up explosives won’t cancel the achievement unless you use them.
Hero Closet (10G)
[ Rescue a survivor trapped in a closet. ]

This is when one of your mates or Survivor dies. You may find him trapped in a closet. All you have to do is open up the closet, rescue the survivor and viola! He’s out and you just scored 10 points.
Hunter Punter (10G)
[ Shove a hunter off a pinned and helpless survivor. ]

Just wait, its bound to happen. When someone gets pounced on by a Hunter just go up to him and melee or LT. Oh yea, then shoot and kill him. Duh.
Tongue Twister (20G)
[ Free yourself from a Smoker who has grabbed you with his tongue. ]

Simple right? The trick is you can only shoot for a certain amount of feet. Just aim, and fire when you first get pulled and the 20 smack-a-roos are yours.
No Smoking Section (15G)
[ Kill 10 Smokers as they are pulling helpless Survivors. ]

This is pretty self explanatory but for those who don’t know what that means, I guess I’ll explain it. When you are in pursuit to a safe house, there will be Smoker’s. No wait, you know that. Anyway, when one of the Survivors get pulled by a Smoker, just kill him. This is an accumulative achievement.
101 Cremations (20G)
[ Set 101 infected on fire. ]

This is very easy. Just every time you get a Molotov Cocktail or a pipe bomb or one of them canisters just set the Infected on fire. You’ll get that 101 deaths easily. Its best that there is a large amount of Infected around, its quicker that way.
Do Not Disturb (20G)
[ Sneak past all Witches during a Campaign without disturbing one. ]

This one is fairly easy on Easy. So if you want this achievement try this one on easy. The thing is you need to cut off your lights and crouch when going past them if they are in your path. I’ve witnessed myself you can walk right past them as long as you aren’t shooting. Yea, explosions, shooting and bumping into will startle her. If you have no choice but to startle her. See the Cr0wned achievement.
Man vs Tank (30G)
[ Single-handedly kill a Tank. ]

Basically kill a Tank on your own. That is as simple as I can put it. Its easier said than done, being that you have 3 other people who want to kill it too. Your teammates aren’t allowed to help. My best bet is to get a Assault Rifle or a Molotov Cocktail.
Tankbusters (20G)
[ Kill a Tank without it dealing any damage to a Survivor. ]

Lol, for some reason I got this achievement cause I went so far ahead of the others and ran into a Tank. I was so close to getting the Man vs Tank achievement when the Zombie Control Squad rolled in and ruined it. They only let off a few rounds and he was done. Also you can just use a Molotov Cocktail for this achievement.

Safety First (30G)
[ Play an entire Campaign without no Survivors taking friendly fire damage. ]

I’m trigger happy and this one took me a minute and a Xbox 360 shipped to Mesquite, Texas 4 weeks later. Its best when getting this achievement that you play with the AI. Cause they rarely cause friendly fire damage. Just try not to shoot when they are in front of you, or crouch down, that also helps your aim too.
No-one Left Behind (20G)
[ Beat a Campaign with all 4 Survivors. ]

Basically finish one Chapter with everyone escaping in the rescue vehicle. If you’re playing with the AI you are going to have to head towards the rescue vehicle at times cause they’ll just stick around. Other times they’ll be in the rescue vehicle already and leave you with a Horde and Tank to fight off. So stay with the group, if you can.
Unbreakable (30G)
[ Finish a Campaign without ever being healed. ]

Okay, this one is frustrating sometimes cause you can be almost to the next part of the Campaign when one of the survivors whip out his first aid kit to heal you cause you on your last string of health. Well IF you still have yours you can cancel that out. Just whip out your first-aid kit and it’ll cancel them from healing you. Don’t use it though, put it away. Pain-kills count as healing too.
Witch Hunter (20G)
[ Kill a Witch without any Survivor taking damage from her. ]

If you haven’t gotten cr0wned achievement you can get this one with doing that one; so its a two-for. If you have gotten that one, well you’ll just get this one too. The options in doing this varies. Preferably online play so the other players can shoot at her. Once this is done, just dip out of line of sight and pray they don’t take any damage. Or try to kill her before she gets close to anyone.
Red Mist (20G)
[ Kill 1000 Infected with a mounted machine gun. ]

From what I’ve heard you can stick around for numerous amounts of Horde’s. There are mounted machine guns on almost every chapter. Its best you don’t do this one on the finale chapters. Find a chapter that has a mounted machine gun and stick it out, if you wait there will be more Hordes coming. This one may take a while. I found this out on mistake when I was testing to see if I killed off one Horde will another Horde come. Well, it did. It’ll be faster to get this achievement on Medium and higher. This is accumulative achievement.
Note: When I study the game more or if you know where the mounted machine guns are I will gladly list them.
Pyrotechnician (20G)
[ Blow up to 20 Infected with a single explosion. ]

This achievement mind as well say, “Blow up to 20 Infected with a pipe bomb“. Cause that is the most easiest way to achieve this achievement. Just wait for a not big, fat, juicy Horde (ew), and make sure you have a pipe bomb handy and out; and just throw it and just hope and pray they are fast enough to reach the pipe bomb to get blown away. All you need is 20.
Zombie Genocidest (20G)
[ Kill 53,595 Infected. ]

Simple as pi, just keep killing and killing and killing. Its faster when you’re not playing on easy though. But if easy is your speed then by all means. This is yes, you guest it an accumulative achievement.
Dead Giveaway (10G)
[ Heal a Survivor when your own health is below 10. ]

Just have a first aid kit and wait til you’re about to die and heal someone else. You’ll get this achievement even after you do die. OR! Have a teammate revive you and wait til your health is below 10 and heal someone else, do this before someone heals you though, then you won’t get it. I got this achievement when I was close to dying and healed someone.
Stand Tall (20G)
[ Survive a Campaign without being incapacitated. ]

Just stick with your team, try to last to the last strand of life or when ever your gut instinct kicks in and use your health. Just make sure you survive. You can get this achievement on any level, online or off. Make sure though that you watch out for Hunters and Smoker’s.
Zombicidal Maniac (30G)
[ Survive any Campaign on Expert. ]

This is easier said then done.Teamwork plays a big part in this. Basically just don’t die. They are going to be at you [the Infected] in all directions almost non-stop. In some cases if you’re lucky you’ll get a first-aid kit here and there but they are scarce on Expert. The HP is 10-20 so try not to get hit. It is best that you do not use the pistols unless you want to try out for the Akimbo Assassin achievement if you’ve haven’t gotten it yet. Try your damnedest to stay away from the Special Infected, that includes the Witches. Try to stay in a corner as much as possible. If there is a Tank, move around cause if he see or catch you in a corner well, its curtains.
What are you trying to prove? (35G)
[ Survive all Campaigns on Expert. ]

Hmph, a lousy 35 points? Shoot I was expecting more than 35. Just see the Zombicidal Maniac achievement, which is above [if you've forgotten] for this one.
Nothing Special (30G)
[ Survive a Campaign without no Survivors taking damage from special Infected. ]

Um, well its basically watch your back, don’t tread too far away from the others. Stick together is the key. Try to save the survivors from the special Infected quickly if they get attacked. As long as they don’t take any damage you are still able to get the achievement.
Burn the Witch (10G)
[ Light a Witch with a Molotov. ]

Um, well either way it goes you startled her and she’s out for your head. I’ve even just so happen to catch a Witch below me and I was on a roof and I threw a Molotov down at her and set her a flame to her [Why my aim was on point that day I have no clue, maybe I was destined for that achievement that day] but she just so happened to get up on the roof with us and attack us. Cheating ass game.
Towering Inferno (10G)
[ Light a Tank with a Molotov. ]

This one is so easy. You should be able to get this one on your first try, if not then…um [tries not to say nothing mean] try again. Practice makes perfect. Also once their on fire they die faster also.
Spinal Tap (10G)
[ Kill an infected with a single blow from behind. ]

My boyfriend manage to do this one by going up to one of the Infected with his light off and just melee the crap out of him. That’s like the only strategy I can think of. Yea, light will cause them to come at you if they are just walking around looking like all is lost.
Stomach Upset (20G)
[ All Survivors complete a Campaign without being vomited on. ]

Its easier said then done. Basically try and find the Boomer before the Boomer finds you. Either melee him and shoot them while they are stunned, make sure you step back. Cause the bile from their bodies can get on you from the body exploding. Try and stay ahead of the team if you’re a risk taker when you’re playing with the AI. This way you can get the Boomer from ahead or from the side and hopefully the AI can help you out without getting froggy and leaping in front of a Boomer and just stand there. Yea, I’ve seen that happen.
Brain Salad (15G)
[ Make 100 head shot kills. ]

This is an accumulative achievement and if you don’t try hard to get it come with time. Sometimes without you even knowing it was an achievement for it. You can get the SMG though and just wait or start a Horde and just aim for their heads.
Jump Shot (20G)
[ Head shot a Hunter while he's is leaping. ]

Um, yea while he is pouncing grab a sub machine gun and aim for his face. Its best you have this gun already equipped. Hopefully if your timing is right, you’ll get this achievement.
Mercy Killer (15G)
[ Survive the No Mercy Campaign. ]

For some reason I’m not getting this achievement. I play the Campaign and I survive and make it to the rescue vehicle but I have yet to get this achievement. Anyway, just surve through the Campaign and make it to the rescue vehicle.
Back 2 Help (20G)
[ Leave a safe room to save an incapped teammate and bring them back safely. ]

I did this by getting 3 of us in the safe room and I closed the door but this was on mistake. I saw one of them still out there getting mauled so I went back and saved him. I haven’t figured out any more techniques, if you have any just let me know.
Toll Collector (15G)
[ Survive the Death Toll Campaign. ]

Um well you gone have to see the No Mercy Campaign. There is no sense in repeating myself now is it? It won’t kill you to scroll up. Eh, if you’re down here then you already know what needs to be done then keep on.
Dead Baron (15G)
[ Survive the Dead Air Campaign. ]

See the Mercy Killer Campaign.
Grim Reaper (15G)
[ Survive the Blood Harvest Campaign. ]

See the Mercy Killer Campaign. [Yea I know. Just keep scrolling down.]
Ground Cover (30G)
[ Save another Survivor from a Special Infected while on the ground. ]

Basically if you’re lucky; you and another survivor has to be incapacitated on the ground. While you’re on the ground you have to shoot a Hunter or a Smoker off another survivor. Its easy to do if the person that is reviving you gets pounced on by a Hunter or yoked up by a Smoker.
Clean Kill (10G)
[ Shove a Boomer and kill him without splashing on anyone. ]

This was very easy for me. All you have to do is test your options, move around but you have to be quick cause other survivors can kill him off before you get a chance. So just be quick and aware and press LT.
Big Drag (20G)
[ Drag a Survivor 100 feet with your tongue. ]

This is only done in Versus; one of the players that strays away from the group. The Smoker has a nice distance like a sniper so if you’re good at that, you’ll be good at this.
Chain Smoker (20G)
[ Constrict two Survivors in one life as a Survivor. ]

Self explanatory right? This is only done in Versus. Just wait for that right moment and constrict one survivor, and while he’s/she’s getting constricted, another Survivor might come up to save him. When he’s free try and constrict him/her. Its tricky but not too tricky.
Barf Bagged (20G)
[ Cover four Survivors with Bile at once. ]

This also can only be done in Versus. If they are together this is fairly easy. The thing is the Boomer makes loud belching sounds and this is an indication that your are close by. So try and attack them from a corner or from a dark area of the board. Try to do this before you get killed. From reliable sources the best Chapter to do this on is No Mercy Chapter 4: The Hospital.
Double Jump (20G)
[ Pounce two different Survivors in one life as a Hunter. ]

This only can be done in Versus. This is best to be done behind a car or wall or in a dark area of the board. The thing is, the chance of being shot in the head or just being punched. Hopefully they just punch you off so you can get another pounce in the get this achievement.
All 4 Dead (30G)
[ Kill all four Survivors in one life while playing as a Tank. ]

Also only done in Versus. The Tank can take a lot of shots. Try to avoid Molotov’s and canisters though. Those are your kryptonite. The messed up part is that the Tank is a random selection. You can’t just pick the Tank in other words. If you get to be the Tank focus on one Survivor at a time, this is your best bet. Hopefully you’ll get a board like The Hospital Chapter in the No Mercy Campaign, you can easily knock them off the roof of the hospital. I haven’t tried this yet but maybe that will count as a kill.
There is a glitch with this achievement, which as follows:
If you were to incap a person as the Tank, then any random Horde Infected kills him, it will count towards your kill. If another Special Infected attacks them, it will become their kill. Also, if any Boomer vomits on them, it will counts as their kill. You only have to down them as long as only the horde attacks them.
Dead Wreckening (20G)
[ Dole out 1000 total Survivor damage as a Special Infected. ]

This is a Versus achievement as well as an accumulative achievement. Just run around and kill, kill, kill on Versus. It’ll unlock eventually.
Lamb 2 Slaughter (20G)
[ As an Infected, incap a Survivor who has entered and left a safe room. ]

Basically try and have a teammate incap a Survivor hopefully a Survivor has entered a safe room and decides to come out and save the Survivor. I’ve seen where the Survivors just leave the incapacitated Survivor out there to die and just close the safe room door. How rude.
Tips: [From Ryan Treit @ Xbox.com]
Joined at the Hip
Whether playing cooperatively or just with the A.I., there’s no more important strategy than simple teamwork. Specifically, no player can freelance on their own away from the other survivors. You’re most vulnerable to Smoker, Hunter, and Boomer attacks when separated. Always move together, taking the time to talk through where you’re heading so no one veers off from the group on accident.
All Angles
Sticking together is crucial, true, but so too is covering every field of fire when you do. Make sure one player is looking straight ahead, two are covering your sides, and the last is keeping an eye on your flank. Zombies and Special Infected come from everywhere, so you need to keep an eye on every angle of attack.
Also, just because a wave of enemies comes from one direction doesn’t mean every player should turn their attention to the incoming. If you do, chances are a second wave will appear unnoticed and tear you to shreds. Rather, I suggest two players go to work on the first wave that appears, and the other two continue to scan the horizon.
Listen!
The sprinting masses of basic zombies are dangerous, but it’s the Special Infected—Smokers, Hunters, Boomers, Tanks, and Witches—that represent the real threat in Left 4 Dead. However, each Special Infected advertises their presence with an audio cue to alert you to their presence.
If you hear a series of gurgles and belches, you can be sure a Boomer is lurking somewhere nearby. If you hear a screeching howl, there’s a Hunter getting ready to pounce. Likewise, a nasty cough should alert you to a Smoker’s presence while girlish sobbing lets you know a Witch is huddled somewhere close. Finally, if the music takes on a more dramatic tone, there’s a Tank on its way.
The Vomit Corner
Should you find yourself liberally sprayed with Boomer vomit, you know you’re in for a sudden influx of sprinting zombies. Your best bet for taking as little damage as possible is to back yourself immediately into a corner, or, better yet, a small room. This way, you know the zombies can only approach you from one or two directions.
Hunter Melee
Combat can get pretty claustrophobic in Left 4 Dead when you’re being surrounded by dozens of sprinting, bloodthirsty zombies. When you hear a Hunter let loose their trademark howl there’s often not enough time to look, aim and fire.
If you think you’re about to get pounced on, try spamming the melee attack with Left Trigger. Provided you’re facing in the right direction, you should knock the Hunter backwards mid-leap and buy yourself some time to take them out. Plus, you’ll score the Dead Stop achievement.
Preemptive Smoker Strike
If you find yourself lassoed by a Smoker but facing their direction, you may not have to depend on your teammates for help. You should have a second or two to blast them a few times and take them out them out before you’re good and constricted.
Witch Avoidance
A startled Witch means instant incapacitation for anyone she strikes even on Easy difficulty. Luckily, they’re fairly easy to bypass. When you hear a Witch sobbing make sure everyone turns off their flashlights. Next, take a few seconds to track down her precise location and then look for an alternate route past her.
It’s very rare that you’ll encounter a Witch you can’t sneak around, but if you do, startle her from long range and have all four players lay into her as she sprints towards you. Also, be sure you’ve got room to back up if necessary.
Never Assume
Part of what makes Left 4 Dead so remarkable is the A.I.-powered “Director” that controls when and where zombies appear and attack. Consequently, you can never approach any one section the exact same way twice. If you die and have to replay through a section, never assume you know what lies ahead.
Shut It!
The zombies in Left 4 Dead may be tenacious, but their problem solving skills are rudimentary at best. Even something as simple as opening a door is beyond them. Make sure to shut every door behind you unless you plan on backtracking right away. If nothing else, it will buy you extra time to prepare.
If you hear the undead horde rapidly approaching and you’re in a room, you can buy yourself all sorts of easy kills by shutting the door and picking off the zombies through the holes they create as they attempt to bash it down.
High Ground
Whenever you’re about to engage in a large scale fight or you feel you’re about to be overwhelmed, always try to gain the high ground. Yes, zombies can leap and scale just about any object, but the time it takes for them to do so will allow you to thin their ranks substantially. This tactic is especially useful for Tanks, where those extra seconds can make the difference between everyone living and half your team getting slaughtered.
Explore
Left 4 Dead plays extremely fast, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t spend time exploring in between battles. You’ll find Molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, extra ammo, health packs, and more scattered throughout every level. Staying patient enough to find and use these items can make a world of difference.
All that being said, dawdling too long just gives the Director more opportunities to send extra waves of zombies after you. Take the time to search, but don’t let your guard down.
Now grab hold of your weapon of choice, gather your wits, and prepare to dominate the undead horde!
