Solving the Xbox 360 Disc Scratching Issue

If you’re within your console’s warranty period, be sure to contact Microsoft for a repair or replacement before attempting this. Opening your console will void your warranty!

Things you’ll need:

  • A set of 4 self-adhesive foam rubber pads (may be available at craft stores)

1.  Open your console and remove your drive. If you need help opening the 360 console, see my tutorial on, “How to open an Xbox 360“. So okay, remove the drive’s case.

2.  Attach the foam rubber pads to the bottom of the drive lid as shown in the image.

3.  Reassemble the drive and put your 360 back together. That’s it, enjoy your scratch-free drive!
